Hi, Due to unexpected problems with employer, I need to quickly

convert my non-B to marriage non-O.

I have US marriage license, but not Thai registration.

1. Does the US license need to be translated? if so how/where?

2. Does my name need to be on her condo resident book? (right now everything is in her name)

3. What form do I use to convert non-b to non-O? what is the filing fee?

4. I have letter from my property manager in the US showing my income from rental property.

Does this need to be translated?

5. Do I need to also show IRS tax documents? How many years worth (I only have 2 with me)

6. My wife has income, what docs does she need?

7. My non-b expires on March 31, 2010, is there a waiting period?

if not, can I file for extension of my non-b based on marriage?

8. I thought the 400,000 local deposit was no required if you have over 40k income, clarify?

thanks in advance

40,000 Baht monthly income. A letter from your Embassy verifying this if from abroad. No proof needed.

Tax records if from inside Thailand.

Your Wife's income is irrelevant. It has to be your income.

The U.S marriage license has to be translated and registered in Thailand. Others will advise on this.

You do not have to be named on here house registration.

Apply as soon as you have the documentation.

You need TM7 application form. All extensions are 1,900 Baht.

You can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your Wife. This may give a bit more time.

When applying for the 12 month Extension for being Married to a Thai Lady you will need.

Marriage Certificate. Maybe a copy of the register entry.

Wife's ID Card and house registration.

Proof of Income.

Photo's of you and your Wife in and around your condo/house.

A map showing the way to your house.

Application form. Passport size photo. 1,900 Baht fee.

Possibly a bank book with some cash in it.

Take the Wife to be interviewed and sign an affidavit.

You will get a 30 day under consideration stamp. Go back in a month and get the remainder.

Thanks LB does the 30 day under consideration stamp mean it is valid for me to stay, but not travel in and out of the country? we had a trip planned.

I heard that the US marriage is recognized by Thailand... so are you saying Thai registry is also required?

What type of map for house location? Can it be hand drawn or bring a big map and show them where the house is?

You can probably travel with a re-entry permit, but have to be back on time for the final approval.

The marriage is recognized in Thailand, but immigration wants you to notify the Thai government that you are married. That means having the marriage licensed confirmed by the embassy, translate it into Thai and have it legalized by the Thai foreign ministry, consular department at Cheang Wattana road. Next you go to the amphur and have it entered into their registers. Ask for proof of entering it into the register, it is the kor por 2 (or 3) form. Immigration will probably want to see it.

The map to the house must be hand drawn.

You do not necessarily have to change to a Non-O. As LB said use the 60 day rule for visiting Thai wife (even though you're not visiting and living here with her that's not a problem) to give yourself some breathing space and then simply extend giving the reason to stay as "Stay with Thai wife"

1. You do not have much time as you need to register the marriage document with a District Office (it is not register marriage - just the document). But you need to visit Embassy; have translation made; register at MFA; and then register at District Office. So if you want to do before the 31st you need to get moving.

2. If you prefer more time you can extend your stay for 60 days and then to the one year extension during the last 30 days of that stay. Will cost 1,900 baht and require your current proof of marriage/wife and current photo. Visit Immigration for that with wife.

3. You can no travel on any extension of stay without a re-entry permit if you want to keep it alive. Cost is 1,000 baht and another photo. You use that number to enter country after trip and get the same permitted to stay until date stamp as you have before travel.

Thanks for the info.

To be clear for only the #2 with 60 day extension option....

Does my US marriage license need to be translated & registered?

Gentlemen, Thanks to all of you that replied in a timely manner.

It was a great assistance.

Especially to learn of the 60 day ext

based on marriage.

I went to the embassy first thing on Monday,

got affidavit for both marriage and income. Got them translated. In

preparation for the 60 day ext and later non-O

Then Chulalongkorn University, my employer, (with massive string pulling) finally came through

in time with a VP signature for my non -B ext.

thanks again
