Is this place nice?

:o

Pound for pound the Royal Cliff is one of the worst I've stayed in. O.K. it's not bad,but not for that price. There are better values. And of course they do not cater for Thais. You go in there with a Thai wife, and expect some funny looks. We stayed in a junior suite, which was just a big room, and they wanted 1,200 extra for breakfast. I love staying in nice, expensive hotels, but this is not on my list.

Yep , nice and pretty expensive

Like darknight said- pretty expensive. Probably the most expensive place to stay in Pattaya. Is it nice? Better than 4 stars for sure- would begrudgingly give it 5.

Places like this are not my taste. This place caters to the hi-so who don't have a clue...kinda like people who buy Rolls Royces because they are the most expensive, therefore the best.

The Asia Pattaya is normally a good bet. The Siam Bayview or the Siam Bayshore are both good. If you book through http://www.asiarooms.com they give good rates. The Royal Garden and the Montien are both good in the Town center, but expensive.

Yes much the same as lampard said,if you can see behind the veil with these places.IE, stayed there 3 times very nice, about 6 years ago with my ex(falang)& two kids, bent over backwards, still very nice, now with a thai wife a less reception,i think best for the falang holiday makers, and phoney people.

Have not been to Pattaya for several years but much prefer Jomtian Beach with family and Jomtien Garden Hotel I find very good value and understand the suites are excellent for the price. I have stayed in normal rooms and they are large and quiet (suites were fully booked). They have two ABF with the one for suite guests held in the ground floor coffee shope being much better and available for regular rooms at a small additional charge. This is a relatively new hotel for Pattaya and in good condition. Feedback from others I have recommend hotel to was also positive.

Whenever I go to Pattaya, I always stay at the Dusit Resort.

Fantastic hotel, very friendly. Right now they have a deal for Thai residents which is 12000 baht for 2 nights over the weekend for 2 people in a suite room, including breakfast and one evening meal.Great value

In my humble opinion you would be much better off at the Areca Lodge Hotel in Soi Diana Inn. Unpretentious, friendly staff, has mix of Thai and Falang clientele, good facilities, 2 nice pools, gym etc, great central location, close to Mike's Department store and only 990 baht per night which includes full buffet breakfast. <dee mak maak>

I always stay there, nice digs for a reasonable price, got a great pool too.

That was a typo, right? £80 a night... :o

Don't think so. Just that his sense of value does not match mine. The Landmark rooms go for 6,700 per night at the Internet site I use so 12k for two days sounds right. Obviously not your average Pattaya tourist. :D

They most certainly do cater to Thais. Without writing a long winded critique:

rooms - 4 stars

sucking up - 5 stars

Of course the R.C caters for Thai clients. There are many well off Thai's who frequent the R.C.

Its a nice hotel, but as others have said now starting to show its age in someways, and IMO over priced.

The Areca Lodge hotel is nice I agree, and the pools are great as is the location and it offers value for money, but its not in the same league as the R.C.
