I was thinking about heading down to Pattaya during this weekend or next week, Songkran.

You think there will be any problems getting there or coming back, concerning the political situation right now. Problems with protesters, road blocks, police controls, heavy traffic, etc?

Drove down the motorway on Tuesday afternoon, no problem, came back yesterday afternoon on the elevated, no problems.

The motorway exstention into Sukhumvit is done. Makes a huge difference.

Great, even though you obviously did not have any problems, did you see any road blocks, police, protestors etc at all?

I travelled from Bkk. to Pattaya on Thu. afternoon April 8. If anything the trip was a bit faster than usual, do to there being less traffic than normal in central Bkk. It is my understanding that any roadblocks that are out there are intended to stop additional "red shirts" from coming INTO Bkk., though I think they might be smart enough to wear some other colour while enroute.

Ok, sounds good there are no problems so far.

Yeah... if you worried about protestors and more possible violence it's probably agreed you are wise to move on to Pattaya to get away from it all. Pattaya is as normal.

Bangkok protestors versus Pattaya water war zone - hmmm, Tough choice, I don't fancy either.

We drove down to Khao Sam Muk (near Bangsaen) yesterday for lunch and an afternoon out. Absolutely no problems - there is a small Army prescence at the entrance to Suwannaphum Airport but that was all we saw.

Also, FYI, at least on the Rama 9 - Chonburi Expressway Tolls are free until 19 April.
