Red-Shirts Blockade Thai Military Train

Red shirts seized trains and detained soldiers in Khon Kaen

Later at about 4.30pm, a group of 1,000 soldiers blocked an intersection in Khon Kaen's Ban Pai district and seized three army buses which had 150 soldiers on board for the same reasons.

from; The Nation newspaper

I don't get this bit

I agree. It has insubordination written all over it.

What is Arisman (meant to write General Anupong) doing about this? Is he getting a pedicure and neck rub while watching the latest Thai Soaps on TV? Wouldn't want to rock the boat this close to one's retirement date, would we.

I am guessing you mean Anupong...

You're right, my mix-up on the names. I meant the top banana general who was just recently put in the deputy PM's position.

just wrong translation - should be 1k protesters, probably the same one, who were earlier at the train station.

surely the army don't want to fight anywhere - whether the south or bangkok. They don't want to kill or be killed.

good on them.

go back to the barracks or, even better, back to homes

Whats the problem, the Army are not there to attack the people.

The Army work for the people.

The people pay for their weapons and wages.

So why should the army get upset, better to have a few beers and a laugh and enjoy a little rest.

Peace and goodwill to all.

Sorry I think it's hilarious - only in Thailand would the military be hijacked. I think this is another case of we are staying out of this. :)

Well when you get a group of red thugs who use women and young children and as human shields because they have been bribed with money ,what do you expect , the army don't want kill them.

How can anyone support these reds.

Taking 2 airport with thoushands and thousand peoples, most foreginers, as hostage, do you think it's normal ? it was very clever and the hostage was the reason the army didn't shot also... imagine the international press if you shot inside an airport terminal

Weren't the police who were raiding the SCB Hotel to capture Arisaman taken hostage too? That was like the keystone cops... Hilarious!!

If they take the soldier's weapons, they should also have them take off all their clothes, and make them roll in a pile of pig shit (no offense to pigs).

A little added humiliation might rub it in.

Only Anupong's Thai Army forces people to take off their clothes and lay naked in the hot sun of the beach. Remember the "Rohingya" incident? After that, these people were pulled out to sea in their little boats and left to die:

^Yes - the military can send more troops to join their red brothers. :D

Can't see that happening .

Can you see the military ever in any circumstance being taken hostage? Well not in a real professional army - anyways everyone knows the army is behind the reds. :)

Actually with all the rumors, hidden agendas, whispering and false starts, this whole thing is getting boring... everytime you hear the army is going to attack and they don't it's like Chicken Little crying "the sky is falling." Or else, Nattawut says he is going to take the red shirts picnicking at Silom and then he doesn't... ZZzzzzzzzzz

However, having said that... here are today's rumors/facts:

1. Rajaprasong employees told to go home early

2. Major hotels CLOSED today

3. Chidlom Road closed for a while

4. Tons of messages from Facebook saying Judgement Day is 9:00pm tonight

5. Scattered skirmishes between multi-colored protesters and red shirts

Which all could add up to a big....................NOTHING! :D:D:)

Are you color blind? They're orange. And they're the Thai army, if you would have read the news report. Stop misleading people.

PAD/Yellow/Multicolor are said to be going to attack tonight or in the next couple of days with guns and weapons and the intent to incite death and kill some of their own people, then demand the army take action against the reds.

Remember, the PAD are going to start the fight.

Not the reds, not the army..... those PAD/Yellow (now hiding in multicolor).

The violent parliament shutting, airport shutting, killing people at Don Muang airport bunch, all return again.

Just remember this, for after it all happens those to blame with premeditated intent are the PAD.

I agree that the Army work for the people, though they take direction from the PM and take orders from top brass. I also agree that the Army don't want to harm or kill others, but they're trained to do just that - when they're called to duty. It's basically a matter of:

A. Following orders

B. Not allowing your weapon or vehicle to get taken. Not being captured.

C. Not letting subjective sensibilities get in the way of orders given by a superior officer, except in extreme situations (like being ordered to commit illegal acts or atrocities). If individual soldiers choose to let subjective sensibilities get in the way, then they've got to weight that against the consequences of disobeying orders.

Here's how a non-Red supporter (like myself) sees the situation in a nutshell (note: I don't claim to speak for all anti-Reds): Bangkok, Thailand's major city, is in dire straits. Trained security personnel are called upon by their higher ranking officers to come to the aid of Bkk and its citizens - also for the greater good of Thailand, and to offset the tanking economic repercussions of having a prolonged rally in the middle of the city.

Every average educated person knows that the majority of charges against Thaksin were politically motivated. That's also why no country that Thaksin has visited has yet agreed to extradite him. They won't join the Thai political circus. Just like Interpol won't. If Thaksin was really the dangerous criminal that the current Thai government paints him as, Interpol would have long arrested him. Sure, he's done some shady business deals and put money in his own pocket, but if those strict guidelines under which he was convicted would be enforced in Thailand, there would be no politician left in the country.

Settle down comrade. Jeeze, I do believe the comment was sarcastic. Anyway, YOU do know that as wrong as it was, the Rohingya treatment was a continuation of the policies of one Dr. Thaksin, right? And how about the campaign to wipe out anyone the police didn't like, disguised as a war on drugs- why so quiet on that one? We wouldn't want any double standards. :)

Its FACT.

The PAD/Yellow/Multicolor are now there "taunting" the Reds and trying to incite violence.

FACT.

It is pre-meditated with intent.

Therefore if people die tonight or the following days, it IS MURDER and this is pre-meditated action to incite violence and death.

Levelhead, you have been asked numerous times to back up your fantasies with fact. Not once have you been able to do that. But let's try once more - you are making a claim that a so-called "PAD/yellow/Multicolor" group are going to attack, with weapons and guns, the poor, innocent reds. What is your source? You don't have one. You're a liar a person who seems to crave attention by making sensational claims which cannot be substantiated. Or a fake Red. One of the two. Which one?

edit - being nice

So, you take a dangerous rumor and pump it up as if it's inevitable. It's like the Reds, particularly just before the rallies started, and at their earlier stages: would often say, in effect: "if there's any violence, it can't be the Reds. Instead, it would likely be Yellows or Blues dressed as Reds, and trying to smear the good reputation of us Reds."

Thailand is the hub of irresponsibility, and the Reds are taking it to deeper depths - always denying when their people do something harmful. Like bratty little kids, always blaming others for the messes they make.

I believe you!!!!!! With all teh hemming and hawwwing and delaying by Anupong it would not surprise me if it is the YELLOW SHIRTS who are involved in lighting the fuse... in any case, I'm so tired of all the bullsh*t and everyone saying this and that... that anything that can bring this endless battle to a finale is welcome.
