Thai Army Tells Red Shirts To Disperse From Rally Base

I seems as if EVERY thread about current events gets hijacked back to the yellow airport incident. I think this should be a mod issue. ONE thread to talk about that. It shouldn't be acceptable for this done to the death aspect of it to dominate EVERY other topic, especially now, that Thailand is possibly on the verge of civil war.

I do have a proposal about this. I suggest people in future ignore all references to the airport incident. We all know about it ALREADY. We all know the red rationale about that, that they claim they are now excused of ALL crimes because of that past. Nothing new. Why ever reply to this gambit?

Your post are also somehow predictable and rarely containing something new but repeating the same record over and over again.

:):D :D

ps. Why don't start a poll about this. What does the community think, who should stop posting?

The airport reminders vs. yourself.

I can't wait to hear the red supporting westerners justify firing 40mm grenades at bangkok citizens at silom, on the BTS pad, at women... I think that should pretty much settle this argument over what to do with the remaining barricaded thugs.

I know that I have 6 female friends in Si lom protesting tonight against the Reds. They come form all areas of Thailand... If they are hurt...

Are you suggesting red shirts are behind these attacks? Please, give me a break. They have even asked for UN peacekeepers to protect them from the government. When they asked in parliament for an INDEPENDENT investigation into the April 10 killings, the Abhisit coalition declined. I wonder why? It doesn't take Einstein to see what's happening here.

My suggestion? Put UN peacekeepers on the streets and then launch an independent investigation into the killings. Whatever the outcome, we'll have some clear evidence and no more killings without a face.

Of course the Red Shirts with their guerrilla army, armed thugs, history of violence and self-interest in seeing the country ripped apart are not behind the attacks. As for your call for an investigation, you have it backwards, but don't let that stop your fantasies. You might want to check into who refused to participate in the parliamentary measure to launch an investigation. How about instead of having an occupying army in Bangkok, the Reds declare victory, go home and get politically organized to run candidates in an election in December?

First: It takes months to get UN peacekeepers on the ground. Second: UN peacekeepers are more likely to kill rioters than Thai soldiers. They will use lethal force to defend themselves.

Puea Thai asked for an independent investigation. However as the Abhisit coalition have the majority, they rejected it. How hard is that to understand? And why did they reject it? Something to hide perhaps?

I'm sure cheguvera's right - I wouldn't put it past the people who got hurt to have bombed themselves just so they could go to hospital and stitch up those poor innocent red shirts. :)

We'd have more safety in Bangkok if there were UN peacekeepers, as the red shirts have requested. The government has obviously lost control over the safety of its own people.

If you can convince any country to send them, and when they arrive months from now. The army is armed and in position. Do your duty and restore order. The reds are targeting civilians with explosives, commuters on the skytrain are not pinks or yellows, they are not legitimate targets. The reds have no moral high ground to cling to.

this is scandalous.

I hope the people responsible for these crimes pay dearly. hang them high and short.

There can be no INDEPENDENT investigation! All investigative teams are bound to be full of government moles, spies, agents, etc. working for the government, the reds, the CIA, Cambodia, etc.!

If they turn to the UN, the results of the "investigation" will likely primarily serve the US' political goals.

As your username suggests, you are an idealist who doesn't think about all the implications.

And then there is also the fact that a sovereign country, and especially a proud one like Thailand cannot lower itself to call an "independent" investigation...

You talk idealist nonsense.

There you go cheque, regurgitating the latest Red line. UN peacekeepers? It's an internal affair, a clear case of an unruly mob taking over a section of a large city, and thereby causing major problems. A mob whipped in to a frenzy - to create as much havoc as possible for an absentee rich man who funds their antics.

You ask rhetorically, " Are you suggesting red shirts are behind these attacks?"

Answer: No I'm not suggesting ....I'm sure of it. The Reds are hel_l bent on causing as much mischief as they can. They're salivating at the idea of forcing security to act on their taunts. They should be eternally grateful that the security forces are led by lambs, otherwise there would be a lot of red blood pooled on the streets as we speak.

Any Red who has two brain cells working in tandem should get his/her butt out of Dodge. Now. Any Red who stays is asking for grave harm. They made their point weeks ago. Now all they're doing is making noise and trash and trying to provoke a bloody confrontation, as that's what their minders know is most likely to stain the current gov't and possibly bring T back to the PM's chair. ....and the Reds will get more money when that happens.

Stop drewling over your keyboard please.

The REd movement has created havoc and mayhem, violence, threats and fear! And everytime they did so they screamed the same propaganda you do!

Sounds like things are getting out of control

Think things will calm now. It's obvious the bombs didn't come out of the red side so it must be an Agent Provoctuer.

There really are people on the ELite side who would kill a few of their own to drag the army in.

Army only hope really and they will go after CRES who have been undermining them all day... IMHO

As the reds went to the UN and called for third party talks, out came the PAD, Thaugsabun and his Army co-horts. Threats of PAD violence saying they will clear them off the streets and the renegage army commander issuing threat this morning, Memebers on here crying out for violence all week, why dont' the army anthrax them, bomb them run them over with trains, agent orange them, starve them out etc.. Shows who wants the violence. And look at the ones that will be crying in the morning about red violence.

Violence was ok when they were calling for it against the reds, bang and a few injuries in Silom and violence is not ok. But it will be ok again when they call the army to kill reds wont it?

WE do not need anymore ratcheting up of this.

I hope all the people are ok.

It just occured to me hearing your tuff talking and threats to the reds, that it would just take one farand shooting at the reds to make warfare on all Farangs open season.

Way to go.

1 dead

Sad indeed

Bombing a train is terrorism.

Yes it is. And the red leader Jatuporn had threatened to do this before. They are going for broke. Of course it was the reds who did the bombing. Can there be any question?

Just to clear things up a little...

In reply to this:-

The problem here is one of perception, jingthing. As an exercise, let's assume you are right - I know I am right, I can hear you saying...but bear with me. Assuming you are right and there are many many people of the same opinion, there are equally many many of the opinion that something is rotten in the "State of Denmark" - both on a national and dare I say it, international stage. For those that do not have the unique wisdom of the posters here on this forum, the perception is that the Abhisit government has arrived at this point following a coup, international airport closures that resulted in literally tens of thousands of stranded foreigners and a few other shenanigans besides, those probably more of relevance here in Thailand, disqualifed parties, red cards, yellow cards etc etc. If I was to sit down with my father or brother or my mates from the pub and say the present government is legal, they would say "get out of here, there the ones who did this this and this......leaving my Aunt Mo not able to get back for little Johnny's christening"...So, whilst I might agree with you, it is equally good reasoning to see the other side of the coin too...

It is part of the reason why one cannot see this problem just fading away if they all packed up and went home this evening.

You wrote:-

I would ask one simple question. The TWO gov't before the current one obtained their power under the exact same rules. I did not see the REDS crying then about democracy. Did you?

Regardless of whether you believe those two were ousted via the courts or political games, it does not change that they STARTED in exactly the same way AFTER elections AFTER the coup... so why pray tell did the REDs not complain then???

and now you write:-

Can I safely assume you are NOT addressing this to me? As my reply that you quoted had nothing to do with REDS vs. Yellows...

My perception that this indeed did go down an alleyway of red vs yellows is obviously awry...mea culpa :D

in reply to danc. i'm sorry, i'm too late to reply to your original post na:

i like your post trying to differentiate between "perception of events" & so-called "true facts" (by one side or the other). i feel sad that your original approach - leaving realm of "absolute truth" for insight into human mentality, "perception", or "views" as the Buddha said - have either been ignored, neglected or mis-interpreted.

i guess/believe/think... your approach, you sharing mind, was/is one of the more sensible & constructive ones on TV. as it opens realm for negotiations. leave attachment to views behind ("they're bad, they _did_ THESE horrible things. i _can't_ stand pain to talk to ENEMY") - but open game for realizing humble self-assessment & ... realize/enjoy opponent as partner :-) as they say, "it takes 2 to tango" :-)

thank you danc

:D Whilst I can be mischievous in tagging people on their "war manoeuvres" postings (sorry blackman), I joined the recent discussions in the hope that I could find out more information beyond the heavily biased press here in country and given that ,sadly, unless there are deaths, the western media pays scant attention. I have found out that actually the forum is very much a microcosm of what we find outside - conflict and disagreement, them and us, no reason to listen to each other or change views when better informed. It is indicative of political debate across the world and here such conflict has brought Thailand to its knees and will very probably result in a civil war...I am in no way saying I am any better or above the squabbling, by the way as it is human nature but just asking that we are all aware that we are all doing it!!! :D

chai danc :-). neither i am better or above the squabbling.

you're asking for awareness, we're all neglecting it. instead we're indulging mind inclinations. your statement comes close to a quantum leap. leaving behind all those cozy notions, "i feel good" & "that feels bad"? that _i_ "that feels _right_", & everyone _out there_ is an opponent & thus "feels/looks _bad_& threatening?"

let's enjoy & share... happy heart, purified mind :-)

There is no Thailand if the government can't disperse a mob of 6000 armed rebels occupying an important district of the capital. No, it is not a game. It is about the very existence of Thailand as a nation. This is civilization vs. anarchy. Would the red thugs be tolerated for weeks in your country? You say yes? I don't believe you.

Good Point Jingthing, how would this be handled in let's say Holland?

It would never be necessary in Holland- people are enfranchised, well-educated, they have removed the priviledges of title and inheritance, they receive sufficient pay for their work, have more than adequate health care and welfare provision and have plenty of Heineken.

I can say in the US they would simply have labeled the insurrection as terrorism and opened fire at the airport, the inner city and wherever. Anyone doubting this should not forget what happened on American campuses at an earlier time.

The Americans opened fire on one campus. That was Kent State in 1970. The National Guard killed four students. It is still remembered today and those students are still mourned. I knew a couple of career military people who left the service after that. One should know a country's history a little better before bashing it. I believe there are very few countries that don't have some conduct that they are not proud of.
