Retirement Visa Reporting

Recommended Posts

I am a US Citizen and will be 50 this July. I have read all the requirements on the forum, which is really helpful.

My question is, once you have the Retirement Visa, do you have to leave the country every 90 days, or can you just report at a Thai Embassy office or local police station?

Also, how easy is it to renew after one year.

Thanks All!

The long stay visa non immigrant O-A visa will allow you a stay of one year upon entry into Thailand; so no, you do not have to leave every 90 days. What is required of anyone staying longer than 90 days is to report address to immigration every 90 days. If you leave and return the 90 days will start again from the day you return.

You go to an immigration office with medical, bank letter, account book, pension/income letter from your embassy and obtain another year stay. Usually only takes an hour or so. If you plan travel you will also need to have a re entry permit so many will do both choirs at the same time.
