I assume you don't normally live in Thailand, so may not know that you can negotiate pretty good rates at hotels for a month's stay. In Roi Et there are several hotels which charge only about B.500 a night for walk-in guests; you can certainly negotiate down from that.

Unless you're lucky, and find a farang who is going away for a while and wants to let his house, you're unlikely otherwise to find somewhere to rent.

I know a hotel is not the same as a place to yourself, but if needs must.....
