Two years ago I went there for/with my wife and had, as advised on the website, a cashier's cheque/bank draft (no, not the same thing and I can't remember which I had) and they refused it and told me to pay cash, but buying a cheque from them.

Last year, armed with experience, I went with cash and they refused it and sent me to the bank downstairs!

This year, I plan to send the Mrs at 8am on the day they eventually open after the protests. Now, at 8am the bank won't be open.

What kind of payment do they like for visitor visas?

In addition, can anyone remember what spec of photos they want? Again, last year we went with the 'right' spec according to their website, but they conned (convinced) my wife into having more taken inside the office we spouses can't enter!

Finaly, to avoid having to go back to get the thing, they have a pricey service of texting and EMS. Can anyone remember how much that is?

Thanks

ps. Yes, a lot of this can be found on their website, but I have been caught out before, as described above. I need recent and real experience.

As far as I'm aware this hasn't altered in the last few years.

How to pay

If your bank account is held at a bank in Bangkok

You can pay the visa application fee by 'cashiers cheque' or 'bank draft' from any bank made payable to 'The British Embassy Bangkok'. Bank charges for this service may vary. You should bring your bank draft or cashiers cheque with you when you visit the visa application centre to submit your visa application.

If your bank account is held at a bank outside of Bangkok

You can pay the visa application fee by 'bank draft' from any bank made payable to 'The British Embassy Bangkok'. Bank charges for this service will vary. You should bring your bank draft with you when you visit the visa application to submit your visa application.

Service charge free option

You may visit any of the 25 select branches of Bank of Ayudhya and get a cashier cheque in favour of 'The British Embassy Bangkok'. There is no charge for this payment service. You should bring the cashier cheque with you to the visa application centre when you submit your visa application.

Your wife wasn't conned into having more photos done inside the VFS centre, everybody has their picture taken again as part of their biometrics.

Finaly, to avoid having to go back to get the thing, they have a pricey service of texting and EMS. Can anyone remember how much that is?

A friend thinks they paid 300 baht last year, but that was to have the passport sent to an office in Sri Racha for them to collect, they couldn't have it sent directly to their home.
