My wife Has an Interview with Oz Embassy for spouse visa in July .

I am wondering if anyone can give me some info on the interview process and what sort of questions She can expect to be asked ?. How long after the interview can we expect to get the visa issued ?.

Also how long does it take to get the Police report ? And does it have to be translated into english and certified ? Do we have to have a special form from the embassy for this .?

Any info would be much appreciated

Regards

Ronnie

there are many threads on this topic, do a search in this section using key words, spouse visa Aus or Oz, there is a wealth of info there. There is also a link at the top of the page where the partner migration link is, download the booklet and have a good read.

After all that any specific info you need repost.

When my missus did hers it was all in Thai with a farang watching over. Mine was crapping herself about having to speak English (even though she speaks very good English) but the farang interviewer didnt even open his mouth.

Not sure about OZ Embassy though, mine was UK.

Did the above search and found this thread and another that had nothing. Are threads deleted over time?

She can expect some questions on the information she provided in the visa application form. Usually questions about her employment, how and where you both met, etc.

The majority of questions will be asked about you, your job, your family, what you have done to bond with her family, why you left your previous wife (if this is the case) and perhaps questions of Australia and what you did as a couple during her tourist visa days. She may be asked about your plans for the future. The answers you give to these questions assists the case officer to judge the strength and genuineness of the relationship. The more your wife knows about you and your personal affairs, the better.

The questions will probably vary between each case officer.

Lately, the waiting time for the decision about the visa seems to have been shortened. You may have an answer somewhere between two and twelve weeks, but I wouldn't plan anything around the earlier end.....just in case there is a delay.

The police report takes about 10 days. The Embassy will usually give you a form to take to them.

The Embassy will provide a written explanation for any visa refusals. There is an appeals process.

It is far better not to allow your visa applications to be refused. Good planning together with proper preparation will ensure success.

I don't have any official statistics on rejections, but judging by the posters in this forum who have successfully applied for the various visas on offer, the success rate would have to be in the high 90%.

my wife just completed her visa in august/september.

got a call in september to pick the visa up, the date on the visa in her passport was the day after her interview.

the questions at her interview took about 30 minutes even with the thai pleasantries included

about the house she will live in. (my wife has never seen the house only had photos to talk about)

my children (adult) from a previous relationship.

what interaction she had with my family

who the members of my family were.

her work history (6 years same employer helped no doubt)

will she finish university and how she will do it (we found out the answers now but not before the interview)

her education, and how she intended to improve her virtually non existant english.

how we met, and her fathers feelings towards her marrying a farang.

my wife was very happy with the courteous treatment she recieved at all times from the embassy staff throughout the whole process.

as the more knowledgeable members of the forum say, if your preperation, her presentation are top notch it seems to make the process far more pleasant.
