Anyone Using Truemove 3g Mobile Internet In Phuket?

Featured Replies

i'm looking at getting a 3G aircard for my laptop and using it on True's network. according to their website, phuket has 3G coverage. has anyone used it in phuket? how's the speed? thanks.

im not sure about true but

u could get one of those wireless internet device from CAT, its on 3g network for sure, max speed is about 3.1 mbps, u can use it almost everywhere in Thailand (if u can get reception on ur cellphone u will be able to use the internet device.

i got 1 for sale if u r interested.

i live in krabi

Does True sell 3G data plans? How much are they? Last I checked they had nothing like that.... either you get an iPhone with iPhone plan, or ... nothing.

Using True 3G in the north on iPhone, it's pretty good. Don't know about Phuket though

Wrong again.

1. CAD is NOT on 3G network! It is CDMA standard = whole different system, frequencvies etc. NOT COMPATIBLE with 3G!

2. You will never get 3mbps speed. Mostly not even 1mbsp. For speed tests for different Thailand locations search this forum.

3G is only a standard, it is not a technology. 3G only dictates a minimum speed.

CDMA EV-DO is a network under the 3G standard.

HSDPA (used on GSM networks) is also 3G standard.

The latter is used the most all over the world, and is indeed incompatible with the CDMA 3G network.

But then again, 3G on the HSDPA system is offered on so many different frequencies over the world, that there also is a fair chance of incompatibility!

And it is CAT not CAD (Ccommunications Authority of Thailand)

BTW I have both CAT CDMA and True 3G. True 3G can be faster on a good day - incredibly fast even, at least on speedtest.net. But CAT CDMA just works and is much more useful because of that. True works on and off, case in point it's been down in Chiang Mai all day today. CAT CDMA works 24/7 with hardly any outages, speeds from 1Mbps - 2Mbps, perfectly usable.

  • 2 weeks later...

In Patong, Phuket I recommed Ture more than CAT becuase more fast and signal strang! but please note Ture service more expesive

normally CAT CDMA in Patong speed running around 800-1.7 Mbps

So your getting 3G on Phuket ??

Patong only or island wide ??

HI

I had True before, changed to AIS, True was crap in South Phuket and 3G was only around the airport when i had it, would not go for True in Phuket again.
