Hello I am currently studying here in Chiang Mai and will be here for approx one year. I was enquiring if there is a thing like in Australia as a family doctor or GP?? sorry if this sounds stupid but I am learning the Thai way very slowly.

The reason for my question is that I have been having accupuncture treatment for general health etc, have been off the booze and the women for that matter in over a month, but having trouble at times having a piss.

The Chinese doctor suggested to see a Doctor here in Chiang Mai or wait until I go back to Perth at the end of July to do my tax. Hopefully it is nothing but given there is a family history of prostate cancer in the family, a wee bit concerned.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

Best to go to the Sripat Clinic on 13th floor, Sripat Building, Suan Dok Hospital, this is the semi private part of the hospital and ask to see the specialist who deals with bladder problems (sorry don't know the technical name).

If you go to a type of GP he will only refer you to a specialist so you might as well go there first.

This is an excellent General Practitioner (Family Doctor). She is very popular with expats in Chiang Mai and speaks perfect fluent English.

Hi Phil,

I did exactually the same in 2007 for several months, being to get off the booze and girls for several months. It so happens in Hillside also... As value wise I came to dislike being caught in a typical trap. Self control and discipline needs to be applied- as it is easy to go back into old habits.

Family doctor wise Raintree near TOT, just after Narawat Bridge has a lot of recommendations. Good library and information over there- it a Christian affiliated place yet u do not need to be Christian. Hope it all works out for you. Using self control and directing your life towards what you want will prove very valuable. All the best...
