The dream of every cop in Thailand is a posting to Pattaya. Rife for the pickings, transient population and more sharks per square mile than in the ocean! Why does this not surprise anyone? Especially the crims from Russia, Italy, England and Australia. Time to clean up and get out while you can boys. And dob a few pedophiles in on your way out will you? :) The DSI is on your case...

Corruption goes deep into the police office...time to do what was done in LA in the 60ies...

You mean this type of character? Maybe there is a Thai equivalent.

Perhaps too many rotten apples in the barrel for one man?

No, I mean establish a new police academy, infuse the cadets with a high level or pride and moral and dislike for corruption, pair the newly examined cadets with each-other (so they are outside the old guard of corrupt officers) and give a salary raise. They did this in LA and I would say it was very effective. Eventually new officers outnumber the old bought ones. And the old corrupt ones would informally be pressured to resign or retire.

Make the police take lie detector tests daily....Did you accept any money today from anyone?

Did you take part in any illegal activities today? Did you do your duty for your country today and not for yourself? etc. Yes I am dreaming.

Gosh, I don't think above fits the "Pattaya, A Great Place To Live" slogan. Better watch out, you'll have the real estate companies after you. :D

Don't think Asiawatcher knows they are a fool.

Too busy listening to other lurid tales over a drink in Patpong.
