Which Visa?

Recommended Posts

I am a British citizen of 59 years of age and am married to a Thai national.

I work as a contractor abroad usually on a rotational basis therefore I have not yet applied for a permanent type of Thai visa. My work rotation varies from 6 weeks work/ 3 weeks off to 8/4, 9/3, etc.

I need your help to decide whether a dependent or multiple exit-re-entry visa is best suited to my requirements. For example, can I leave the country and re-enter on the dependent visa without having to apply for a new visa?

I read that multiple exit-re-entry visa are easily available for dependents through the Penang Thai Embassy ... any confirmation of this?

I appreciate any help you can offer me.

Regards

Who is the dependent here? :o

What you want is a one year multi entry O visa based on having a Thai wife using a copy of your marriage certificate and of her ID card. This allows visits of up to 90 days each for up to 15 months. Penang is indeed one of the best places to obtain.

When you end your work you will have the choice of long stay (retirement) on the basis of 800k in Thai bank account or support Thai wife with 400k in Thai bank account (both can use pension as part of amount). But that is future and for now the multi entry is what you need.
