Phuket Taxis To Get Taxi Meters

Featured Replies

Phuket taxis

Phuket _ Taxis equipped with fare meters will come into service at Phuket international airport next month, said governor Udomsak Asawarangkura.

Private cars operating as taxis and airport limousines would also be required to install meters.

Prasit Amrapal, Phuket transport office chief, said there were currently 700 ordinary cars operating as taxis in Phuket. These vehicles will be required to join two existing companies running taxi services _ Phuket Taxi Meter and Nathong_ to operate properly as metered taxis.

The fare on metered taxis will be 50 baht for the first two kilometres, seven baht per kilometre for a distance up to 22 kilometres, and six baht per kilometres for the rest of the travelling distance.
