Motor Cycle Accident

Featured Replies

Yesterday 17:00 hrs. It was a simple accident (if there is such a thing). Riding slowly around a bend an a wet road, bike slips out from under them. She is taken to a hospital in Udon with severe concussion and dies 12 hours later. He has lost an ear.

Why can’t we convince these people to wear helmets? TW is currently out on her Wave helping to arrange things at the Wat, just shrugged her shoulders when I dared to suggest she put one on.

bdenner,

If I'm reading the title of your post correctly, you've lost a family member.

I'm sorry for your familiy's loss

Yes indeed, this never stops amazing me and scaring me too. There isn't a Thai person who hasn't had a family member, friend or has known someone who has had a fatal accident, and yet the crash helmet lives in the basket and will only go on the head as they come up to a check point. I like cultural differences but this one above all others is the one that really gets me confused. Please wear a helmet, it will save your life at some point if you ride a bike in Thailand.

A full-face helmet did once for me in Canada. Face first into a pick-up truck at 50 km/h. I can never forget the taste of a Ford's door.
