From the 28th July, the Immigration Office will no longer be located near the Chok Chai crossroads.

For anyone going from the Buriram/Surin area, you will turn right at the Chok Chai crossroad, carry on for about 12km (near the pottery village) turn right (which involves the usual u-turn) carry on for 1.5km turn right again and the new office is opposite the school.

Are you 100% sure,Colin? :)

I thought it wasn't moving until next year, although I have also heard a rumble about opening a Surin Immigration Office!

Got all me bit crossed for that one :D

It seems that I could make a left hand turn and save 1.5km. :)

Totally sure Dave, I was there much earlier this morning and I've got the notification pinned on my notice board in the bar.

They hadn't planned to move until October next year, then it changed to October this year, but the Office that they are moving to is going to be unoccupied much sooner than they expected.

The chap who opened a bar/restaurant next door in expectation of quite a bit of farang business is not too happy.

If you are able to go to Google Earth and locate the place can you post the coordinates that way I might be able to find it without getting dizzy (maybe) turning right.

Appreciate it

I believe it will be temporarely.

This present office in Chock Chai is far too small. There is only limited parking place on a (in rainy season) muddy underground. One toilet for all of the office workers AND visitors.

Further I spoke to foreigners who were invited (and present) at end of last year's "start new building" ceremony.

That was also in Dan Kwean but at the other side of the mainroad, not too far from this (temporarely?) "new' office.

Note: there are still immigration operations going on in the previous "temporarely" building at the TOT office on the mitrapap road, who will also be located in the new to build office.

In Google Earth, do a search on "Dan Kwian Pottery Village" ..... it is in that area.
