I am posting this on behalf of my brother as he is grief stricken at the moment. My brother had a 3 year old Thai son called Toby, who was Down Syndrome. He and his girlfriend decided to let little Toby live in England, as the facilities and understanding of Downs is so much better than in Thailand.I flew back from Thailand yesterday and arrived at Heathrow, I had arranged my father to collect me from the airport, I didn't see him in arrivals so I decided to call him, I could tell by the shaking in his voice that something awful had happened...i was speechless, I only saw little Toby on webcam 48 hours previous, he said that Toby had suffered a heart attack and was pronounced dead at the hospital. We are all in deep shock at the moment and would really appreciate any help anyone can give any info on transporting Toby back to Thailand to be cremated to his home town in Korat as that's what they have decided to do, who needs to be imformed? how do you go about sending the body back to Thailand? and the costs if possible, any help would be appreciated... Thankyou for any posts in advance.

Toby Kidd RIP my little friend.

Heartwrenching post, I would guess the Thai embassy in the UK would be the best place to start.

Oh my godness!!!!

How common is that? I have never heard of that before!

I knew many children with downs syndrome before because we had special needs classes in my school in Sweden.

Did anyone know he had a weak heart? Sounds strange that his doctor didn't know of his heart because there are several medical controls for children before they are 3.

Our daughter just turned three last month....I am so sorry for your loss....i don't know what to say....

Rest in peace, dear little one!

Condolances to the family.

The Thai Embassy should be the first stop as they would have the proper references.

Repatriation of mortal remains is a specialised procedure as the body needs to be prepared to fly.

International Medical Assistance companies can arrange this but is usually quote expensive.

Sincerest condolences...

have you contemplated cremation? it would certainly simplify things and it is quite likely what would happen after you got the child back to Thailand anyways.

If required a funeral service and accompanying rites could be held at a wat in your area, then repeated in thailand for the family.
