i own a toyota camry 2005 at the moment, it is kinda old and i m thinking to get a new car.

was thinking to change to a fortuner, but the current model of Toyota fortuner is already in the market since 2005, it is like a 5 year old model.

most Japanese car makers will facelift their cars in 2 years and minor change in 4 years and finally change the design in 5 years. it has already been 5 years +++, so anyone here heard of news of a model change?

is there any advise on what car should i look into instead of the toyota fortuner?

In summary: Facelft in 2-5 months, more substantial update in Nov-Dec 2011, and all-new platform not until 2014.

That's correct - the search option on this forum rarely works, unfortunately. As a consequence similar things are discussed perpetually. Where's Toyota manufacturing the new Fortuner? not Thailand, so the price may rise to reflect this. The newest Fortuner with 2.5litre engine looks like a bargain, but as a replacement for a Camry? the two vehicles are like polar opposites, why change from one to the other? there must be a reason, you need the space? you'll miss the Camry's suspension that's for sure.

It depends what attributes you are looking for - if you simply want a higher driving position then the HondaCRV, if you still want 7 seats then Captiva, Pajero Sport, or Mu-7. Personally, I'd keep the Camry, you could run it for another decade on the amount you'll loose when you sell and depreciate when you buy new, but each to their own.

All Fortuners sold in LOS are made in LOS. Previous rumours about importing Fortuner from Indonesia are not correct. Indonesia assemble Fortuners from mainly Thai parts, to be exported to Phillipines and Saudi Arabia. approx 2000 units a month. Both LOS Fortuner/Vigo plants are running at full capacity with an output of 350.000 units/year.

thanks for the replies!

i was thinking to get something with more space and a higher driving position.....

honda crv is considered a ladies car; most of my mates felt this way....

captiva, there arent many chevy service centers around, i m really worried about after-sale service..... it has been in the market for quite some time, aint really a new model.

pajero sport is something i m really considering on..... but i m not sure about the after sale service for Mitsubishi, i used to have a lancer years back....... was really a problematic vehicle.

any advice?

should i go for a fortuner or a pajero sport?

the one having best dealer where you live

and

the one you like more

if you dont need 4x4, Pajero Sport 2,5 auto would be my choice due to price less than a mill baht

yes,

paj sport for under a mil as a good buy. If you trade up often then my guess is fortuner will have better resale value. Both cars ride ok but nothing compared to a sedan.

A d4d fortuner is a nice safe option. plenty of dealer support and great rep for reliability. Service intervals are reasonable too.

Everyone's mileage varies I guess, but my experience with Chevrolet customer service has been so bad that I wouldn't consider purchasing one again, ever, even if it only cost 20 Baht.

OK, OK if it were 20 Baht I'd buy it just to burn it and put it on Youtube :)

Mistu service is the polar opposite however - absolutely superb.

hmm...... thanks for the advices, so most of you guys think that a pajero sport is better than a fortuner?

Yes, but the 2.5 Fortuner is a good alternative to the 2.5 Pajero, as Katabeachbum noted, similarly priced around a million, and I'd second his suggestion to go with the best dealer nearest/most convenient to where you live. That's one decision you'll never live to regret.

The quality and customer service can vary hugely between places under the same brand, so I'd take Moonriveroasis's remarks about Chevy with a pinch of salt. I've had two problems with my Honda City, which the dealer (I'm in Samut Sakhon) had to refer to a larger Bangkok dealership. When I went there, it's like different world, better mechanics, facilities, huge range of parts in stock, and more attractive staff ;) . Both Honda, so how do you judge a brand just by your experience of one branch? You simply can't. The trick, like I said, is to try to balance your options and go with the best dealer nearest to where you live.

Yes, please feel free to do so :)

However I will note that my beef with them is not at a dealership level at all, it's with head office.

Yes, 5 years/150,000KM is a standard option for all Mitsubishi vehicles, with one exception - the CNG Triton.

Note that you need to have your vehicle inspected every other 5,000KM to qualify though - these additional check-ups are not free like the standard 10,000KM services are however - so you'll be ponying up around 200 Baht (I know, so expensive! ;) ) every other visit to the service dept.

Note that if you miss 3 or more of these additional check-ups, your warrantly drops back to 3 years/100,000KM.

CNG Lancer only 3 year/100k km. any vehicle converted to LPG unclear if all warranty lost or just reduced to 3year/100k km
