Importing A Car From Uk To Thailand

Featured Replies

I have been living in LOS for 5 years and am considering buying a car.

I am now back in the Uk for 3 months and wondered how and how much it'd cost to import my Saab 900 into LOS. If it is possible it would be an alternative to buying, but, is it too complicated?

My car is quite old but I reckon it'd look quite a nice motor in Phuket, and I have loved it for years.

Anyone know or has tried this and how difficult is it?

Might be a nice alternative to buying a Pick Up :o

Ta,

B,monkey.

The next time you are in BKK visit the Ministry of Commerce and see if you can get permission to import your used car. They have a folder that explains everything. Under certain cercumstances you can do it. The taxes are quite high and the costs of getting the proper documents can certainly dampen the joy of driving your pride and joy here in LOS.

You appear to have owner the car for long enough.

If you have a work permit, and haven't imported a car previously, then I think you CAN import...

However, import duty, excise tax, etc. - I'd be surprised if it's worthwhile...

Do a search on posts by tuktukmike - I know he imported a car...
