How Different Between Girlfriend & Wife Meaning

Hi guy,

Could you please let me know how difference between girlfriend and wife meaning?

Some of my Farang friend calls his lady that girlfriend .. that’s ok but she is an pregnancy … he makes me confused that why he still called her “girlfriend”?

They did not get married yet but their baby is coming soon.

Before marriage = Girlfriend

After marriage = Wife

However.... my wife called me her husband before we were married ... and thought herself as my wife...(which was fine by me)

So I suppose it's all a matter of where you come from really ..

Strictly speaking yes.... it maybe more appropriate for her to be referred to as his "partner"..

My view is that if they are commited fully to each other, then theres no problem with referring to each other as husband and wife, as the marriage is only a ceremony ..

Yeah thais seem to see girlfriend and wife as same same. Faan and faan. It was over a year before I realised my brother-in-law was not married to his "wife" although they had 2 Kids. Wondered why nobody in the family would speak to her
