July 9, 201015 yr i have a dutch driverslicense but the police took it when i was driving with no helmet and would return it as i would come to pay the fine.. paid the fine but they lost the license they gave me a report wich states this fact... i want to apply 4 thai licence but i informed about getting a new dutch one first and it's a real hassle from here and if i not state in holland that i moved to thailand i have to apply 4 the licence in holland and i don't want to do that yet and i certainly don't want to fly back just for a driverslicence.!! is it possible to apply for the thai licence directly with just the report and all the other requirements ?? i have a one year visa thnx
July 9, 201015 yr I think you can get a Thai licence with no current foreign licence but you need to do the Thai driving test, there's many threads on this, try a google search and add 'Thai Visa' to the search that should help you. As far as I remember reading, the Thai driving test is something like, start the car, move forward, park it backwards, that's it. Bike test is similar but with the addition of riding along a 10cm wide raised concrete block or some such thing! Sounds a lot easier than going to Holland anyway!
July 10, 201015 yr You don't need a foreign driving license as a prerequisite to a Thai driver's license. If you don't have one all it'll mean is doing the full gamut of exams - reaction/eyesight, written test and practical driving test. You'll need the standard documents of course - medical certificate, certificate of residence, and qualifying visa, but these apply whether you have a license from abroad or not.
