Hi

I can probably help, but need more info.

Bodywork or mechanical work?

If engine work. does it have fuel injection and/or a computer?

Make & type of car?

Outside franchised dealerships, I have found only ONE very good garagiste with English: Khun 'Jimmy' of J & N Autos who has now moved from Old Lamphun Rd to the southern ring road. You cross the river heading towards Lamphun/Lampang, pass Global House on your left and he is about 1.5 kms along on the left. If you go under Old Lamphun Rd you've overshot.

Jimmy ran a sports car garage in Las Vegas for many years and only came back here due to marriage. He does everything except bodywork and is very good with modifications as well as basic stuff.

Thanks! I have an alternator or regulator issue with an older Daihatsu, so no computer. The shop you suggest sounds great, but very far from where my car is, and I'm not sure how long it will keep running before draining the battery. I might have to give it a shot, though.

Understand. In that case, you need Daychar, and he's on the north side of Superhighway. Excellent mechanical work, very reasonable charges, but not a word of Engrish.

From Makro on Superhighway, turn left up the 'old' Borsang road (as opposed to right for the railway station). After about 1km you'll see an old red and yellow Shell station on the left. Slow down and take the next narrow soi on the right under a huge tree. On the right hand pavement there are lots of fork trucks and silly electric golf carts for sale.

Down there, Daychar is on the right in about 150m, just opposite the yellow diamond 'people crossing' sign. When I go in I immediately phone my wife and she does all the talking I need.

Daychar won't touch computerised or injected engines, but is great on all those pre such 'modern tech.' Especially good with twin cams and twin carbs.
