Hi can anyone tell me the cheapest and quickest way to get from Phuket to Samui and Samui to Phuket. Not including flying.

The bus. It will leave from Natthon and return to Nathon.

minivan/bus.

ask any travel agent. it's cheap as chips (approx 500-700THB inclusive iirc) and includes boat and usually includes transfer from hotel.

bus is better than minivan

cheapest and fastest are mutually exclusive.

Fastest way is to hire a long distance taxi to pick you up from the pier in Don Sak.

Cheapest is bus. There used to be a big blue govt bus from Samui to Phuket --not sure if its still running, tho since I can't say I pay attention to it

Get the Panthip bus from Samui (Nathon) board bus at 9.30am, bus to boat pier, 2 minutes, (sea trans) boat to Donsak 1 and 1/2 hours. Then rejoin same bus to Phuket (Phuket town), arrive 4pm or thereabouts. Long day, but very easy. About 500THB.

Be very careful of bags when traveling overnight by bus, coach or van from Surat Thani, or other places on coast, to Phuket as there have been many cases when bags have been opened, en route and expensive items stolen. This applies equally to bags in the 'hold' and on the racks inside the vehicle when people are sleeping. Cews on such vehicles are not above suspicion of colluding with the thieves and sharing proceeds. You have been warned
