Toyota Hilux Vigo 4X4 Or 2X4 D-Cab 3.0G?

Featured Replies

l`ve seen a few threads on here comparing the Toyota Hilux Vigo 4X4 and 2X4 D-Cab 3.0G if you don`t need a 4X4 why pay the extra cost and added fuel costs. I looked into this and a 2X4 seemed the perfect option the only draw back is that they only do this version in the low ride is that right? The 4X4 is much higher and that is not an option on the 4X2 which means I wont be going for it if this is the case and the dealer confirmed.

Anyone have any other info on this or options in the range I want an auto not a manual and I think only the above models both come in auto.

Any suggestions or advice?

Thanks.

I cant understand why they don`t offer the 4X2 in the high ride I have seen the low version and its not for me, its the car cost not the fuel cost so much.

Well they do - the Prerunner - but only with a manual transmission..

I couldn't agree more though on the lack of Auto transmission options for pickups - AT just isn't available in 4x2's anymore (it was an option a few years ago), and it's the one and only reason I haven't bothered updating my pickup. I don't want a double cab (tray is too small for intended function), I don't need 4x4, and without an AT option, there's just no compelling reason for me to change.

I had the 3.0 Vigo Double Cab 4*4 Auto, I got about 12km/l. Didn't need the 4*4 for day to day driving around the town, but a few times, I can recall 2 at this moment, when I needed the 4 wheel drive... like the previous posters say, the fuel increase in a 4*4 in negligible and you'll be delighted you have the 4 wheel drive option from time to time.

Wish I would never have sold the truck, solid truck.

It's a shame that the Prerunner doesn't come in auto, god knows why cos it's a popular ride, it would have been ideal for you.

According to my Toyota dealer, very much off the record, its because they have a much higher profit margin on the 4x4 and they doubt if they would sell so many if the Prerunner was also available in auto. Its the only answer that seems to make any sense.
