Drought Still In Chiang Mai ?

Featured Replies

Can anyone in ChiangMai tell me if there is still drought going on there now ( August ) ? I wonder if those farmers of rice or shallot have been able to proceed with their planting now ?

I'm definitely no "authority" on the situation, but I would imagine that with all the rain we've had almost daily for the past two weeks or so, plus the news in the paper today about flash floods and land slides due to heavy rain fall in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, I would guess that the term "drought" would not really apply now.

But, I could be wrong.

Yes there is still a draught. Just because it is the rainy season and we have been receiving rain does not mean the draught is over. most farmers are receiving water from the reservoirs but they are also using their wells. Along with the rain they probably will be able to get in this croup but some will still not make it. Chiang Mai is still about 250 mm of rain behind normal www.tmd.go.th./en
