Further tests undertaken following electrocution of Elephant in Na-Jomtien, earlier this year

PATTAYA: -- We continue to follow a case of an elephant which was electrocuted in January 2010, just outside of an Elephant Camp in Na-Jomtien. A 50 year old elephant lost its life after it apparently came into contact with a small cone-shaped object next to a pylon, which is used to protect the pylon from a lightning strike. The elephant’s master Khun Ooay aged 61 has been fighting for compensation with the provincial electric authority since January but after an initial offer was made the authority apparently backed-down and claimed a problem inside the elephant camp led to the problem at the pylon.
