Fritz Voip Box

Featured Replies

I am curious about the VOIP part of this unit. I currently have VOIP hardware and an VOIP acct with a provider in my home community with a local area code. I pay them a monthly fee for this service. The hardware is mine, I bought it from them.

With this VOIP feature on this router/modem....how does the VOIP work? Don't you need a provider? How do you get a phone number? Any information would be appreciated.

Yes, you need a VOIP Provider (SIP industry standard) and enter your SIP account info in the Fritzbox settings.

Depending on the Fritzbox model then you can plug in normal analog phones and also use wireless DECT handsets.

DECT is a European standard for wireless handsets, maybe difficult to find in BKK.

I used to own a Fritzbox without VOIP, it is a pretty solid ADSL modem/router and very easy to configure. Support is excellent.

Never used a VOIP capable Fritzbox but as far as I know they do the job as advertised.

Be aware that for Thailand you need an ANNEX A type Fritzbox, not ANNEX B.

I have been using a Fritz Box for 2 years without any problems. The VoIP function works really well. I signed up for a free incoming Number with Sipgate http://www.sipgate.co.uk/user/numbers.php

For outbound calls I use Rynga. Here you find info on how to register the account to Fritz Box http://www.rynga.com/en/sipp.html

If you need a incoming Number from another country I can recommend Localphone. http://www.localphone.com/incoming_numbers

These numbers are very good value and you can also find incoming numbers from exotic locations.
