Please Help Me With Advice About Which Hospital To Have An Operation At

Featured Replies

I am currently in Hong Kong planning to travel to Thailand this week for submandibular gland removal and mandibular reduction surgery.

These are the quotes the hospitals have provided just for removing the submandibular glands-

Vibhavadi 50,000-60,000

Phyathai Sriracha 50,000-60,000

Bangkok 100,000-120,000

Bumrungrad 120,000 – 140,000

Yanhee 130,000

I'm inclined to go with Vibhavadi or Phyathai Sriracha Hospital because their rates are a half the price.

Has anyone had any experience with these hospitals? I would appreciate any feedback

I'm quite satisfied with the service at Vibhadii Hospital, been going there for 3-4 years now, in patient a couple of times. Had gall bladder removed via laparoscopic surgery two years ago, worked fine.

I continue to visit the place now and then for check ups, as does my Thai wife.

It is not the hospital you should be concerned about, all the ones mentioned are of acceptable standard. The important thing is the choice of surgeon.

Look carefully into qualifications and experience with this type of procedure.

Thank you for the great advice.

Ive been told the doctor is

Dr Phakdee

Does anyone know?

Would that be Dr. Phakdee Sannikorn?

Afraid I don't have any direct feedback on him but I know he is a specialist in maxofacillary surgery and active in several professional organizations, he has also published in his field. These are all good signs.

One point I should mention since you don't live in Thailand. The hospitals that quoted the lower price, i.e. Vibhavadi and Phyathai Sriracha, will have much less English speaking than the higher priced ones and in general be less geared towards international patients (although they welcome them). The doctors will speak adequate English and any inconveniences will not affect the quality of medical care, but it is something to be aware of for someone not speaking any Thai or very familiar with Thailand.
