Nothing; abser-lootly nothing!!

(Reared in the UK)

I feel sorry for you.

No Family?

No Friends?

How long were you reared there?

Hi Majic,

Thanks for your concerns but please don't feel sorry for me.

Firstly "missing" something is an emotion as opposed to "seeing something in preference to".

I left UK in 1985 at 24 for France and Spain and have only been back to UK to visit family. Now I only have one sister who I visit, always overjoyed to see her, but we don't pine on the telephone "missing" each other.

The friends I have made in my 13 years in Thailand and also through my line of work have long since been far more important than those I had in UK the numers of which have really diminished to my life-long(40 years) best buddy who now lives in Nong Khai .. I in Ubon.

I personally do not "miss" anything about UK.

Thanks

Chris

4. The lack of public trash bins. Why oh why can there not be trashbins placed around the beach areas to encourage visitors not to leave trash behind?

Public trash bins were removed after the Bali bombings as it was thought they could be used to plant bombs.

That 'home' feeling,

Sincere friends,

Proper bakeries. Sausage rolls and stuff like a cheese salad and pickle roll to go,

Value for money western food,

Being let by others out when driving,

The list goes on but I think a few weeks is enough over there to want to come back to the lovely and balanced climate and the feeling of FREEDOM!

>>>really need to source some Mountain Dew

SB try villa market as they have what BB1950 is looking for, Dr Pepper (48 baht per), and I thought I saw Mt Dew there, but don't quote me on that but I'm sure they can get it.

Yeah I have tried a couple times to get the message to the right person, but no luck yet. Villa Market Phuket has lots of Dr. Pepper at the moment, but it goes fast and doesn't get restocked very quickly, sometimes for several months, like most imported stuff there.

I also miss snow skiing and baseball. (And of course family and a few friends)

London black cabs

You miss London Black cabs?

Black Cab:

Heathrow to Canary Wharf 30km £60...3000 baht

Phuket Taxi:

Phuket airport to Phuket Town 30km....500 baht

I know which I would prefer

But why does it matter ?? Back there you can make fortunes easily.. Here you only spend them.

Diversity of pursuits, back there I did paragliding / hang gliding / gliders / skydiving / etc.

Motorsport, both watching local club racing and taking part. Similarly auto related scenes like a day at goodwood festival of speed or goodwood revival. The big shows etc. Cheap sportscars, huge selection of motorbikes at such tiny costs (comparatively) and skilled mechanics who can keep them running.

Second hand market on everything, from high end audio or home theater to whatever other pursuit or interest you might have.

Beer gardens in the summer.. Old school country pubs in the winter ;)

Summer festivals, the rowdy (raves and similar) and the more sophisticated.. Live bands.. New Acts.. Top DJ's.. Comedy clubs..

Entrepreneurial spirit and drive, creating interesting companies and services.

But damned if I will spend a winter there.

Availability of good fresh beef and lamb.

The lack of motorcycles. (I once found myself driving around trying to spot a mc just to prove to my visiting gf that we have them in Australia)

Privacy, peace and quiet. (my gf once asked, where are all the people? Although only 6 ks from Perth I lived in a very quiet street)

Good, organised, paid for, healthcare.

Good cheap wine (A glut in recent times made prices very low)

A few mates sharing some good wines over a long friday lunch.

Camping and fishing in remote places in Western Australia.

My Pajero.

Good Old Fish and Chips

more and more we miss the quality and diversity of British TV programmes;

and the ability to freelance by buying and selling from Auctions.

The old villages and pubs and lunches in their gardens in Summer(3 weeks)

Public transport.

The quality of today's supermarkets;Waitrose/M&S/Tesco,/Morrisons;nothing here matches that.

Otherwise we do not miss the weather therefore overall prefer Phuket.

thebox is kind of strict with their ratios, though, ha ha.

Don't need to use thebox (which is now invitation only).

Plenty of other torrent sites.
