Telephone Communication Withthailand From Australia

Featured Replies

Yesterday one made several telephone calls to 2 numbers inThailand and the result was:

An engaged signal or,

A prerecorded message stating that the country code and number were incorrect ( from Australia)

With a mobile.

A warbling tone and no connection.

This was between 10.00AEST and10.00AEST

A check with the international operator (Optus) and they did a test check and the line rang.

Their answer was to just keep trying.

Did a test call to Singapore and there was no problem.

The problem has occured before but only for a very short period.

Tried at 12.20AEST line rang. Looks like problem has been fixed and may have been in Thailand on their network.

It is not unusual, from Oz. My son rings me from Oz. It may take 3-4 tries before I can speak to him. My phone rings, but when I. answer - deathly silence. The problem is here, not sure what it is, but happens frequently. He is on some special deal for International calls,at the moment, so is ringing me, mobile to mobile. When no deal or he is at home ,we use Skype -com to com.For free

I've get the same issues from my mobile phone occasionally and I think Optus are trialling the use of VoIP service for international calls from their mobiles in Australia.

I get the same issues with other Australian VoIP services - MyNetFone appears to be somewhat better than Internode's NodePhone, but it still requires a few tries to get a line out after about 9PM EST at night.
