Places To Stay In / Near Mae Hong Song

Featured Replies

Doing a north-west tour in a few weeks.

Anyone have any recommendations for places to stay in, or around, MHS for a couple of nights? Don't mention Pai, as we're staying there first, before MHS.

After MHS, heading south towards Tak, so anything just outside MHS on the Tak road, would be acceptable.

Thanks.

Mae Sariang 150-200km south of MHS town is pleasant. Two guesthouses listed on that site, and 3 more upmarket ones here.

We stayed at The Residence@Mae Hong Son in Jauary and enjoyed it, I just did a google search and notice it is the number one choice by Trip Advisor reviewers.

If you want to stay right in Mae Hong Son, there's an OK guest house right next to the lake, that does bungalows for around 500 baht, (the last time I was there 3 years ago).

have a look at cave lodge between Pai and Mae Hong Son well worth a look with accommodation at a reasonable price.

Fern Resort is good and is off the main MHS-Mae Sariang road a few kms south of town. It's touted as an eco-type resort and has a swimming pool. Good food there and they also have/had a restaurant in town.

Piya Guesthouse right by the lake in Mae Hong Son is my favourite.

Riverhouse Resort in Mae Sarieng is the best.

The Piya, that's the one - great location and good value for a bungalow.

The Fern is very nice but 5 times the price.
