Need Help... Abortion Pill In Phuket?

Featured Replies

My girlfriend and i have been together for a couple of years now and do plan to get married at some point maybe in a year or two after both of our careers are going really well... We do of course want to have kids at some point but again timing has to be perfect.

Now is definitely the wrong time for us as she is getting promotions at work and i am also.

She is now pregnant and i have no idea where to buy "SAFE" abortion pills here in Phuket. Does anybody know of any "SAFE" doctors or clinics where i can take her?

Please help if you can...

Many many thanks in advance.

Abortion is illegal in Thailand. So your going to have a rough time getting an answer on the forum.

Really?illegal?I know guy who did it more then 20 times, may be he will answer.

Prostitution is illegal and what is the most popular subject in this forum? - girls!(99% - pro...)

Well, it's not entirely illegal- it can be done if it's perceived the woman may have health problems as a result of pregnancy, or if the pregnancy is the result of sexual assault. I've heard that some legitimate clinics use the first reason- the health reason- as a way of navigating the law. According to this post- - you may be able to get some help at Bumrungrad in Bangkok.

There's a clinic above the Cabbages and Condoms restaurant in Bangkok that may be able to help you as well. Only reporting second-hand information though, but according to good old Wikipedia...

An interesting side note is the family planning clinic which openly operates next to the Cabbages and Condoms restaurant. This is one of several places in Bangkok where poor women can receive pregnancy termination, a practice which is legal in the country per Section 305 of the Thailand penal code, but often perceived as illegal.[7][8] The clinic is permitted by the authorities due to the dangers of unsafe abortion by Thai women because of "economic difficulties".[9]

Yes i am aware of the status of abortion in Thailand, why do you think i am asking here. Otherwise i would simply go to any doctor. But rightly said prostitution is also illegal... Take a walk through patong and count how many prostitutes you can see....

I do know there are clinics that offer "SAFE" abortion pills in BKK, my question is where can i find such here in Phuket?

If you're wanting to do it in Phuket, that might be tricky- again, I don't know for sure- but I'd give the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand a phone, as they have clinics all over the country, and even if they don't have anything in Phuket they should be able to give you better advice. 029412320 / 029412322

"Abortion pills" are not approved for use in Thailand and their import would be illegal. It is also unsafe to use them without medical advice and back up.

Please see the posted notice on abortion at the top of this forum. It is legal in Thailand (surgical abortion, not use of "abortion pills") if in the opinion of a licensed Thai physician it is necessary for the woman's physical or mental health.

The PDA clinics in Bangkok and parts of the North/Northeast are a good resource although very no frills.

Another option would be Cambodia where both surgical and medical (pill) abortion are legal. While the general standard of medical care in Cambodia is abysmal, there is a UK based NGO operating clinics which are of acceptable standard and they will ensure the availability of English speaking staff in case of a foreign patient. Marie Stopes international, 2 locations in Phnom Penh.

Abortion is legal on demand in Singapore but not permitted for foreigners unless they have been resident in Singapore for a certain period of time, I think 4 months or something like that.

I don't know how rigidly this is enforced, but it is the policy.

^known quite a few ladies who flew in and had the procedure, so I don't think it's that enforced. B)
