dangerous I don't know . . . scary, yes.

Have not seen anything remotely as ugly as that either here or Oz. How big approx?

aaaaaaaaaaaarggghhhhh

:o :o :o :o :o :o

I would move back to the UK if that was anywhere near my house.

Definitely a tarantula, could be a Thailand Black. A very aggressive species if it is.

Not particularly dangerous unless you are allergic, the bite would be very painful though.

What did you do with it?

Thanks everyone. Looks tarantula-ish doesn't it? Maybe it's a Thailand Black.

You can't really tell from the photo as it's a bit hunched up. I'm guessing it was about 4 inches or so across.

We didn't kill it, just released it back into the wild; my friend took it up into the hills. I'm glad he found it and not me. The fright alone would have killed me.

having worked with all sorts of animals and insects including a pet tarantula , i have one statement: if u are close enough to identify it, then u are too close for comfort.........

Very weird and uncommon to see a tarantula running. Are you in Bangkok? I have never seen an uncaged tarantula before. Cobras, centipedes and scorpions sure, but never a tarantula.

Excellent that you released it.
