one website, I want to say motorcycle.com, said it added 20 KG from last year due to emissions requirements. i.e., it's a pig, and slower than last year's model. whistling.gif

The new CBR 150's look real nice. But when you consider its possible to buy a used 2 stroke 150 with twice the power and 10kg less for about 20% of the price it doesn't seem like such a good deal anymore.

lol.

a guy on youtube hits 164, tho its at night so you cant see if he's going down a big hill. i managed 146 on the flat (speedo indicated not gps) it may have had another couple clicks in it but by that stage its taking so long too get there you have to slow down for the inevitable traffic. that was when the bike was stock im 75kg so a 60kg rider fully tucked in who knows

Highly modded I'm sure it may see such a speed after a few minutes of lying on the tank, going down a hill, but certainly not stock.

How much is the speedo error on the 150, 10%? So you'd need to see 176kph indicated.

I think they're telling a few porkies with that official stat.

Im not sure what the speedo error on the 150 is, what is it on the 250 does anybody know? both low powered single cylinder 4strokes made by the same company it should be fairly similar.

Seems to vary from the different regions from reports I've seen. Think most in Thailand seem to say about +8%, in India most seem to say +4%, but in America (where they don't have the same legal regulations that the rest of the world has re: speedo error) people say about +1%.

Claiming that the stock 150 will hit a genuine 160kph is a bit of a stretch of the imagination imo.

Yes i agree i cant see the 150 hitting 160kph stock. As i said i only managed 146kph and i was laying on the tank for a while. After a few basic mods it hit 150kph but again thats laying on the tank

The new CBR 150 has a 30mm throttle body vs the old cbr's 26mm carb.

The CBR 250 has a 38mm throttle body vs the Ninjas 250 's dual 28mm throttle bodies.

Looks good all black. Is that a carbonfibre sticker on the screen? What headlight system are you running? You done any engine or suspension mods?

A couple pics of mine. No mechanical mods except a larger header pipe and getting rid of the cat convertor. Had a couple of panels painted red, painted the screen black and got my mechanic to make up a tail tidy and put small rear LED indicators. I also put larger Pirelli tyres on. I'm still waiting for API-Tech to bring out a street version of their ECU. As far as i know, the engine is the same as the carbie version, so all the big bore build ups for the carb model should work on the EFi version. Then it is just a matter of sorting out the fuel delivery.

You should change the front turn signals so that it match your bike looks good.

Hard to tell performance wise, i think the stock ECU is the bottleneck for getting a bit more power. It certainly had a better growl, sound wise! I forgot to mention that i also had the rear sprocket changed from 43T to 45T, gives a little better acceleration but the major difference is that the bike seems better to use around town, the gearing seems to be happier for riding in the city and even out of town at around 100 kph i feel like changing up to 6th, while before it seemed to chug a bit.

Can't remember the exact cost (around 1,500, give or take a little), i had my local mechanic organise it through a workshop that does exhausts, so it was hand made in stainless. The beauty of the 150i exhaust is that the cat is in a seperate canister so it is simple to cut it off, while the 250 has it built into the muffler housing so it is much harder to remove.

I found that the original front indicators are great to keep the shopping bags from swinging forward and rubbing on the front guard/wheel! laugh.png

Actually, as they are rubber mounted and have a bit of give, i think they will take knocks better than solid mounting smaller ones.

Yea you have good point about having the 7-11 bags on the mirrors. I sometimes do the same thing when ever I have to carry anything on my bike

The beauty of the 150i exhaust is that the cat is in a seperate canister so it is simple to cut it off, while the 250 has it built into the muffler housing so it is much harder to remove.

Yeah, that's what I thought. It's a real pity about the 250 model as it could certainly do with a bit more audible grunt and getting rid of the Cat.
