Applications for teachers' exams

By The Nation

The Teachers Council of Thailand is calling for applications from both Thai and foreign teachers for professional teachers' exams.

Council secretarygeneral Ongkorn Amornsirinan said yesterday that the application period for the seventh professional teachers' exams is from November 11 to 22.

Interested Thai teachers can apply via the council's website, www.ksp.or.th or http://testth.ksp.or.th/. Foreigners can apply via http://testeng.ksp.or.th/.

Teachers wanting to take the exams must be aged over 20, possess a Bachelor's degree as minimum education and shouldn't have been prohibited before, according to council regulations.

Thai teachers can choose among nine content standards: language and technology for teachers; curriculum development; learning management; psychology for teachers; educational evaluation and assessment; classroom management; educational research; educational information technology and innovation; and selfactualisation for teachers.

For foreign teachers, the nine content standards come in four papers: language and technology for teachers plus educational information technology and innovation; curriculum development, learning management and classroom management; educational evaluation and assessment plus educational research; and psychology for teachers and selfactualisation.

The application fee can be paid at all branches of Krung Thai Bank via teller payment or corporate banking from November 11 to 23. The fee is Bt300 per content standard for Thai teachers and Bt1,000 per content standard for foreign teachers. Bank charges and the fee for the application service via the Internet will be Bt30.

The exams will take place from January 21-23 in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen and Songkhla.

The council, on its website, will announce the exam schedule, names of those who are qualified to take the exam and where they can sit for it. For more information, contact the Teachers' Council of Thailand secretariat office, Ratchasima Road, Dusit District, Bangkok 10300, or via telephone through 02 280 4334 8 extension 553, or visit the council's website.
