harrisonkrs1 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Hello all, I've had a high fever last night and today. Should I be concerned? some pain in my joints. I ate some gross curry yesterday so i'm thinking that is the genesis. I will go to the doctor tomorrow if it keeps up. Or should i go now?
R123 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Go now and make sure you see a proper doctor so best to go one of the hospitals. Insist upon the strongest appropriate medicine like anti biotics or an injection etc.
glanville63 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 You could have dengi fever if that's how it's spelled. Go get it checked at Pattaya Memorial and then if you have it go to Satahip Hospital where it will cost you sbout 5,000 baht for four nights not 140,000 baht at Bangkok Pattaya.
harrisonkrs1 Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 dengi fever i don't think i have fever because no headaches.
glanville63 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Don't mess about. Go get it checked out ASAP.
ciaociao Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 dengi fever i don't think i have fever because no headaches. Bird flu has made a come back.
Blues Factory Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Have you been bitten by a mosquito in the last week? A mate of mine spent 7 days in BKK pattaya hospital with dengue fever last month, his nextdoor neighbour had it before him, 80k bill. Get a blood test done.
MikeyIdea Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 (edited) How high fever is high fever? Over 40? Only you will know how bad you feel, if you'r feeling pretty bad but not very bad, then you can wait for a day, if you've got 40 then go today. Don't use a clinic but you surely don't have to use one of the most expensive hospitals either. A decent hospital is good enough. Serious doctors here (the ones working for the small clinics not always covered by that phrase) know how to treat what's common in Thailand. Don't play with penicillin yourself, you can make more damage than good If you feel really bad then GO Edited November 18, 2010 by MikeyIdea
timekeeper Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 if you have no diarrhoea, its not the curry food poisoning will give you a high fever sure but it will be accompanied by projectile vomiting and the frequent toilet visits will leave your asshol_e looking like a Manchester United rosette it could be swine flu you can get tested for it at the hospitals, you will get results in a few hours if its confirmed you will need bed rest, a day/night on a drip and you will need to get some Tamiflu inside you fast and it will all be over in few hours don't wait too long, Tamiflu is not a cure, it just halts the reproductive cycle of the virus allowing your body the chance to fight the virus alone some people die because they wait too long, if old or young they may have a weaker immune system and then the host is overwhelmed by the virus good luck man........
harrisonkrs1 Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 Just got back from the hospital. I have a infection in my stomach which caused the high fever. Got some antibiotics and should be good in a week or so.

Might well be dengue; I had high fever, aches and pains in eveyr bone in my body. No headache. Forget hospital stays as there is no treatment for Dengue. Only lots of water and rest.
wasabi Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 WOW one of the rare cases when the cursory bag of antibiotics was the actual solution.
jubby Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I think I've got dengue. not been able to sleep for two days as my bones are aching and won't support my body in any comfort. I've been taking paracetamol and it does give a bit of relief but I suspect I've taken enough. Any thing out there I can get from a Chemist ? Don't relish another sleepless night
