Here's a good one.. not only do i only get 26,000 a month (British, 9 years teaching here) I also got deducted 300 baht this month for "staffroom air-con"

Someone get me a decent job!!! :whistling:

My wifes 3 months pregnant too

The salary is quite low for someone with experience. Where are you located?

As far as the 300 baht, I know a number of schools that pull that. The most I've heard of is 50 baht.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

I have been teaching full-time at University, outside Bangkok, for 4 years and I only get 27,000 a month but no deduction for aircon yet. :jap:

When I was teaching at private Catholic school in Bangkok ten years ago I was earning 38,000 baht a month! Strongly suggest you change schools , send me a private message and I'll put you in touch with my contact who still works at the same school.

I'm in kanchanaburi.. Just found out today that ALL the students (3,500) pay 300 baht twice a year too..

I feel sorry for Thai students everywhere really.. the schools and their owners/bosses just want to make money...

Or they want to pay the capital costs of purchasing air-con units, maintenance and electricity with a margin on top to cover other costs.

Many private schools have suffered since the Abhisit government made government school education free. They have lost students and class sizes are smaller. I know personally directors of large private schools in Chiang Mai who have admitted their schools are running at a loss.

I don't feel sorry for these directors but the common assumption that you open a school and become rich is very rarely close to the reality.
