Help ! Should I Move To Thailand?

Well , if you don't really want to make money but just want to get your time filled there are possibilaties . Owning a small beer bar doesn't cost you a fortune to rent for a 3 year period . Then you need the employees , costs you money also but if you have a few costumers , you don't loose lots of money . Don't get behind the bar yourself , even if you have a work permit , just be there and check the books . Keeps you busy and can stay drinking in the bar . Best is, like somebody else stated , to have some friends coming over from time to time , to come drinking in your bar . Won't make you a fortune , probably loose money , but it won't be a fortune also . Like somebody else stated also , there is a lot of competition and let's say less clean methodes are used to get you on your nerves .

I don't know any foriegn bar owner that has a work permit. Some are married, but they still need a work permit, unless you are a citizen (something I learned from this site, hee hee).

Regular customers will keep you open. There is room for you here and your bar. I know two Irish dudes that should still be in Ko Pha Ngan. They are DJs.

yes good time to start but can be expensive since it is high season . Better now that way when high season comes you are up and running . Phuket alot of people are either going out of besiness or selling . the key if you have a bar , have good looking girls working there that are friendly

Hi Lovejoy,

Perhaps you could send me a PM if you want to talk about small bars. What did you have in mind? I mean if it's with 'girls' I am not the right person..... if it's just a normal small bar I may be able to help.

Seonai - a fellow Celt

There are hundreds of mismanaged bars.

If you have some skills and a personality, it might work out.
