Xmas Dinner

Ricky has canceled Christmas dinner due to staffing.

I'm surprised you say you didn't like it. Everyone I spoke to was raving about it. I thought it was one of the best Thanksgiving meals I have had. What was your problem with it?

499 baht for 1 medium sized plate of turkey, potatoes, stuffing and green beans.

Nothing else. No cranberry sauce. No pie.

Live music: 1 thai man singing karaoke. Real annoying.

One of the thai staff was chatting with my girlfriend and was telling her it was a ripoff.

Didn't really feel like Thanksgiving.

I actually went to Rick's for Thanksgiving based on recommendations from this forum.

When I got there I realized I'd been had by people on the forum promoting their own interests.

Sorry you feel that way, but that is untrue. None of us got anything out of it but a great dinner. Not sure why you didn't get cranberry sauce and pie. Everyone else did.

The Thai man you probably saw singing "karaoke" (actually playing guitar and singing, no computer or karaoke machine) was actually Kuhn Kerry, a fairly well known Thai musician. Sounds like you missed the 4 piece band that came on later, which had one singer with an incredible voice, plus Ricky was singing occasionally as well.

I won't argue it wasn't the biggest of portions, but a quick look around the forum and you will see prices from 399 to 1400 baht. I passed on your comments to Ricky says he thinks he remembers you and has asked me to extend an invitation for a free drink. There will be Christmas Cocktails on the 25th. He is always open to hearing constructive criticism.

No big deal. Was my first Thai Thanksgiving so maybe I was hoping for too much.

Just take it easy with the self-promotion.

I went to the friendship beach xmas eve bash, for under a 1000B the food was pretty tasty, just what was needed, lots of choice, the staff all ways attentive and polite and the setting, well it's outstanding, the entertainment was a couple of i think English guys, perfect for the setting, a little bit quiet as i think people would have danced to there music, they even sang "white christmas" as it should sound, a very enjoyable easy night, of coarse the heavens opened and the rain came, but late, so didn't spoil a thing.highly recommended for next year!!!!
