Asked a good question yesterday, I have checked but cannot find or missed it.. Please advise [My friend has not their own PC so only manages to go on-line about 3 times a month - live way out in the sticks]

language school for 3years

You get from outside of Thailand a 90 day education visa 'ED' 2,000 baht. then every 90 days extend this for 1.900 baht at the local immigration..

What I don't know so could not tell my friend... Year 2 you pay the school again and ? continue going to Immigration for the extensions ? or must you leave Thailand and get another 'ED' Visa ?

I would have thought you just keep getting extensions, as long as you have a letter from the school, but it is not clear on language school websites

Just out of interest has anyone been to this school ? http://www.tlslanguageschool.com/

would take my friend about 1 1/2 hr to get there by buses.

I drove to the new 'Central' on Chaeng Wattana Road, Nonthaburi on Sunday and noticed opposite on the board there was about 3 schools there

Anyone been there ?

You pay the visa at the consulate and after arriving in Thailand pay every 90 day 1,900 baht for an extension. As long as one keeps studying one can keep getting extensions, without the need to leave the country.

The school you normally pay per year around 29,000 baht, for a study of 4 hours a week.

Many thanks

TIS Language School is 22,000 baht a year + by far the nearest for my friend, may even suggest going myself as just 27 km to drive my car + open clear roads, so my friend could come to my house by bus and we go together.

Anyone been to any of the TLS, Tewi or CTLS Schools ?

You see is confusing re most Language schools website say:

QUOTE:

How many years can I continue to be a student in Thailand?

Anyone can study for 1 year, or as many as 10 years! All students have to renew their ED visa just like any other long stay visa once per year. Our school monitors its students and helps make the process easy and worry free.

Most people are not familiar with the correct terms and use visa where they mean permission to stay, which are two different things. It is the permission to stay you extend.

A visa is nothing mor than a permission to travel to Thailand and ask for permission to enter, nothing more. The immigration officer decides if he gives you entry or not, and that is something different. A visa doesn't mean you will be allowed to enter.

As you are already in Thailand, you don't need a new permission to travel to Thailand.
