webfact Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Hospital Merger to Turn Thailand into ASEAN’s New Medical Hub Two of Thailand’s leading medical groups have merged to become one. The formation of the new corporate medical group aims to turn Thailand into Southeast Asia’s new medical hub. Doctor Prasert Prasarttong osoth, President of Bangkok Dusit Medical Services, which owns Bangkok Hospital, Samitivej Hospital, and BNH Hospital, said the company’s merger with Health Network, the operator of Phyathai Hospital and Paolo Memorial Hospital, is now finalized. As a result, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services, commonly referred to as BGH, is confident it will be able to provide broader health care services to patients of all types. BGH is also convinced it is the leader in the industry, both in Thailand and among all ASEAN member countries, after its market share rose from 12 percent to 15 percent. Prasert added that in terms of technicality, the names of all hospitals involved and their respective service fee structures will remain unchanged, at least until all processes related to the unification is completed and discussions on the issues are held. Health Network Chairman Wichai Thongtang added that he will be holding an estimated 15 percent of shares in BGH while holding the position of chairman of the company. He believes the merger will lead to an improvement in the medical treatment quality, and will cut costs and boost revenue. -- Tan Network 2010-12-16

JUDAS Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Saw the thread title and had to look to see if HUB was mentioned
SomTumTiger Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 The people quoted don't say "hub" at all - just journalists trying for a "Sensationalist" headline. yawn
Pib Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Thai news journalists sure like to use the word Hub. It has been way overused. About time they found a new word.
jayjay0 Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 The people quoted don't say "hub" at all - just journalists trying for a "Sensationalist" headline. yawn I would not mind the word hub if they would tell me who was the old hub? Now if this had been a nation article they would have claimed Cambodia was the hub Thailand is replacing.
