Where To Sell A Few Camera Lenses In Cnx?

Featured Replies

Hello!

I am looking for a shop where I can get Nikon prime lenses while trading in 2 other lenses. I have asked in the shops in the Phanich mall (pls excuse my spelling) near the night market, but it seems they are not into this kind of deals and after asking in three shops and being turned down on my proposa, I started feeling funny.

Thanks for any replies and ideas!

dpending on what lens you got , maybe you can try selling on the forum classified

Thanks and of course, I took that into consideration. I will try that if I don't find a shop where I can trade them in, which would be more convenient. The lenses are 8 months old, btw. One is a Sigma 18-200 f/1:3.5-6.3 lens which I used only in a few occasions, the other a Sigma wide angle 10-20 f/1:3.5.

http://www.photobugonline.com/ Photbug, might do it, I have been offered used lenses there before , not sure they make a habit of it though!

There is a camera store in Santhitham, opposite the Lotus express. Try them. Have traded stuff there bfore.

I went to see the guys from photobug in their shop in Phantip plaza. No joy there. Any other photobug shops in town where I should try? In which Photobug store were you offered used lenses? (just to clarify: I want to trade in my old ones for new different ones).

The Sigma wide angle 10-20 f/1:3.5 is certainly a very attractive, specialist lens, but somehow I don't think you'll get anywhere near what it's really worth in part exchange......and that's if anyone is interested.

I'd definitely try the TV classifieds or City Life online ads first.

Maybe if you said how much you think it's worth, someone on here might be interested as I believe there is a photographic club running. However, the minute you put a price on it, the vigilant TV police will be screaming "advertising, advertising"....so best advertise it. smile.gif

Yep, that was my favourite, actually. Nevertheless, I will upgrade to prime lenses and I am a bit tired of keeping too much equipment. It doesn't only fill my bags and drawers, but also my head.

Sorry, our posts crossed so I didn't reply. Will check on the camera store in Santhitham .

Regarding photobug: I just called their main office and they may be interested if I buy stuff from them.

@lannarebirth: Thanks for your hint. :jap: Will check on this if I don't feel I am getting a halfway reasonable price in the shops. It's amazing how many photography interested people there are on TV. I didn't know.

You could try contacting the local photo clubs-- there at least two that i know of. One is aimed at foreigners or ex pats and the other is aimed at the Thai community

The Chiang Mai Photographic Group has a "For Sale & Wanted" section on our website and all the used camera dealers (that we know about) are on the CM Photo Resources Map which you can find on the home page. There are a couple in Santitham and one in Nong Hoi but Photo Bug will part exchange if they like what you have to offer. Otherwise, Thai Visa Classifieds are a good bet.

The CMPG aims to further all aspects of the picture taking abilities of its members through the sharing of skills and mutual support in an informal, inclusive and enjoyable atmosphere. All are welcome, regardless of experience - if you want to improve your skills please come along to a meeting and try it out. We meet every other week and our current home is at The Red Mango (Tuskers former location) - you'll find dates on the website.

We've just finalised the details of our 3rd Annual Exhibition which will be held at Northern Village, 2nd Floor, Central Airport Plaza from January 15th - 30th 2011. Last year Thai Visa was one of our sponsors (and we're hoping they will be this year too) so here's a link to a short promotional teaser to give you a taste of what's in store this time.

PS The Photo Bug outlet in Panthip Plaza is not the place to talk used equipment. The main branch is just outside Chiang Phuak Gate about 50m from the moat on the left as you go out of town.

There is a camera shop facing the moat on the tapae gate side, about a 4 min walk from the gate. Quite easy to miss if driving but walk and keep your eyes open and you will see it. They buy and sell lenses and cameras; plus a good sellection of new ones. I've used them to have lenses cleaned before.
