Confused About Places To Go/stay In Thailand

Recommended Posts

me and my friend are coming to thailand for two weeks - busiest time, chinese new year - and we would really like to have a good time. first time for both!

we plan to spend 3 days in bangkok and then go north and then go south... or viceversa.

so we need any tips u can give us.... both for bangkok (cheaper places to stay like hostels close to tourist attractions) and for other places you have been to and you think it's worth seeing.

we are not into clubbing and drinking.... we feel more like seeing things, taking pictures and just enjoying ourselves.......... like places that make u go 'wow!'

well... i hope someone can help us.

i don't really trust websites and guide books.

everybody checks them out and reads them... i prefer to listen to real people who have been there.

many thanks for your help...

ps

i am very absent minded and it often happens that i forget where i am logged on, what my password is and so on. or sometimes i just forget.

so i'd really appreaciate if you could also forward your replies to my email

[email protected]

thanks a lot

Mate, it is best to post a reply here as others may benefit, so I suggest you take notes onwhere you are logged in each time you surf the internet. Just remember to write it all down...haha ! Thailand is full of great places to go. I would suggest you get the ###### out of Bangkok. A city is a city......well to a certain extent anyway. But up country is where to best places are and also the friendliest people. You must aim to get off the beaten track and be prepared to travel the local way. otherwise you will not come into contact with local people as much as you would like. At least you wont get the same experiences as you would if you were off the beaten track.

Som eplaces I would suggest you try to make are: Umphang(for Thi Lor Su waterfall), Nan, Chiang Mai(many tourists), Pimai, Khao Panom Rung, Khao Pra Viharn - all north or north east. Sangklaburi (west) and Trang in the south.

Happy travelling.

Yes, I agree, get out of bangers as soon as possible.

Khao Pra Viharn is really worth a visit.

Chiang Mai City is not my cup of tea (full of tourists) but the loop Doi Inthanon, Mai Sariang, Mai Hong Song, Pai is a nice trip if you like mountain scenery.

Let me know when you have decided on your itinery and I will try to suggest some budget hotels for you.
