He was one of the ones I was thinking of. I grew up listening to him, he was one of my inspirations. It really upset me that after he got cleaned up and released some of the best work of his life he dies. Out of all the people to crash in a mountain, why him?

John Smith - would have been a much better PM than the Witch (Blaire), it was his policies that the Witch took credit for and won Labour the election. Now we can't get rid of the b*stard.

Kenny Everet and John Candy and John Balushi

I was 7 when Presley died. First time I ever saw my mother cry - could say that affected me at the time - indirectly perhaps.

Queen's mum bless her heart

How many 'Johns'?

Andy Warhol - he left us too young.

Stan Ogden

Shergar

Grace Kelly

General Franco

<* Lord Rothschild's Chauffeur, I went to his leaving-do as he retired from our office a month after Lord R. died, then Dennis died the very next day! Poor bugger>

Lord Rothschild. There is a name I am quite familiar with.

<snip>

Welcome back Pandit. :D

Are you still in Tassie or UnZud or wherever it was you went? :o

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

Good shout!

I was about 50 yards away from John Smith when he died. 1993 I think.

I lived next door to him.

Visited his grave on the isle of Iona last year

John Smith was a good guy. I went back to the UK when he died and stayed with a friend who had a flat looking directly at the church, very close to all the celebrities.

Shergar is dead?

Paula Yates died?

Shep?

Michael Hutchence - he did the same as a friend of mine, by mistake, we think.

Here is my list of missed celebs.

Leonard Rossiter - One of the funniest men alive, when he was.

Johnny Cash - listening to him now, a couple of songs very relevant to the Mississpi floods - "Big river" and "5 feet high and rising".

Ian Curtis(Joy Division)

Hank Williams - although he died before I was born, wow he wrote all that stuff in a 6 years, dying when he was 29 in the back of a limousine, overdosed.

cheers Jai Dee. I'm still down under - expect to be back in bkk around March. But I did just get a radio transceiver put in for internet, didn't have any before.

Shep off Blue Peter

Yeah, I watched Johnny Nolkes (spelling?) on TV doing an interview the following day after Shep died. The interviewer didn't know and asked after Shep. Johnny broke down as her told the world. Anyone that had a dry eye after watching that is a heartless bounder with a laughably small mustouche!

Anyone remember Petra - buried in the BP Garden?
