Hi, just a quick question. I alway see people saying that you should get your visas abroad, where the consulates are more lenient. Since I'm back in America, I though now would be my chance. I plan to take the CELTA in February, then look for work.

I was lead to believe that I could get a non immigrant visa. But, after looking at the consul's website, it looks like I need all sorts of documentation.

So, my question is, do I have to be married, have a business, or already be teaching to get a Non Imm visa? Should I just get a 2 month tourist visa? I already have 1 tourist visa, and several 30 day stamps in my passport, if that matters.

Thanks in advance,

Depending on the which Royal Thai Consulate you apply at.

Where in the US are you located?

Which consulate web site did you surf into? URL?

Stay away from the LA consulate, from what I hear they are pricks. It is really quite simple to get a B visa.

What they really care about is how much money you have; I think the figure is 800,000 baht. Or $20,000 USD give or take.

Not sure what your business is it can never hurt to form a LLc. It it is really cheap and can offer you some advantages. For example TAX, personal Liability, Billing corp. to Corp, and for Visa's you just tell them you are looking to explore doing business in Thailand.

The Fees are about 300 bucks of costs but you can find services that will help you out. I had to do mine out of state for tax reasons. CA sucks for LLc's

Good luck

This consulate was very very helpful to me (Wash, DC) and went way out of his way.

He sounds like he is half asleep all the time but he gets it done. (must have help)

If he nods to sleep just call back and pretend it didnt happen. Dont let him lose face.

good luck
