Hi all,

friend of mine was living in loei now wants to divorce his wife, i think she is in agreement with it. I have advised him to talk to a lawyer before he goes to the Amphur with her.

Can anyone give me contact details for a decent lawyer that speaks English in or around the Loei area, my friend is planning to come over to Thailand around the end of January.

Thanks in advance,

Geordie

Contact isaan Lawyers.

If both agree, you simply turn up at the amphur together with both marrriage certificates and two witnesses, sign the divorce register and get a divorce certificate and you are done.

Thai law doesnt know any alimony, only child support. Basicly you just split up the assets acquired during the marriage, which includes all debts! So if you had 100,000 before your marriage and now have 200,000, you split up the additional 100,000 only. One can make an agreement stating otherwise and have that entered into the divorce register.

If there are no assets to divide, no lawyer is needed.

Hi Mario,

i am aware of the assets split, my mate just wants to make sure that he is signing for what he is agreeing to. He does not speak Thai that well so would rather have a lawyer there that speaks English as there is a child involved. I will get him to give Issan lawyers a call.

Thanks for your reply.
