Urgent! Need Dr To Make House Call

Featured Replies

My 92 yr old father who I am caregiving and states that he doesn't want to go into the hospital [both verbally and on his living will] has multiple problems. We had a Dr that has made one housecall, but is unavailable now and we need a reliable Dr's opinion and possible treatment.

Does anyone know of any dr that will make a housecall?? of course we will pay a premium price and I can provide transportation.

Dr Morgan is worth a try, she has a surgery on Hang Dong Rd, married to a welsh man!

David

PM sent in case this breaches some rule or other!

I know several of the Dr's at Sri Pat on a social level and professionally. It would help in providing an appropriate referral if the symptoms/condition was known, or are you looking for a gerontologist? What level of English is needed etc....

As I said, he has multiple problems @ 92 yrs old......recurrent UTIs and is on appropriate antibiotics for that, but UTI seems to persist and he is getting infections [staph?] on his skin. He is adament about not going into the hospital and I would like to respect that wish and I have been handling his routine medical issues at home quite well, so far, but now need some professional help.

Sorry, I forgot to add that my Pop is also suffering from advanced osteoporosis [diagnosed] and has advanced alzheimer's/dementia. I wrote the last in a hurry andnow waiting on our local health clinic person to come and assess the situation. I'll try to call dr Morgan and see what she has to say asap.

Thanks for the tips.......

jaideeguy, my thoughts are with you. Please let us know how it works out in getting a doctor to do housecalls.

Thanks for your concern. I did manage to contact Dr Morgan and had a long conversation with her and she is quite concerned and will make a special early morning house call tomorrow. It is comforting to speak with a dr that actually speaks and understands English.

Will post results tomorrow......

If you are not able to get a doctor there by tomorrow afternoon, you can contact me. I am retired and not up to date, but will try to advise/assist as I can.

Perhaps you can negotiate with him to see outpatient clinic only, and agree no hospitalization. Most good docs would hear that and work with you.

Thanks Baby J.....I would have taken him a while ago, but with his osteoporosis, he is at great risk to take him into any clinic or hospital. I would need an ambulance [and his cooperation].

We'll see what the Dr Morgan has to say tomorrow morning. She seemed on the phone quite compationate and on top of things......but I've learned not to get my hopes up here in LOS.

Great news.

She is the best, the most caring Doctor in Chiang mai .

If Dr. Morgan can't find some kind of solution then I doubt you will ever find someone who can. She is unique here in Thailand. We are very fortunate to have her here.

With her I feel like I have a old fashioned country Doctor.

To her you are a person.

Both my wife (Thai) go to her. The one draw back is she tells me I should not eat certain things and my wife tattles on me.:(

She is incredibly approachable.:)

electrified.

Yes I agree. It doesn't matter how much pressure she is under (taking care of all of you other members), she never makes you feel as if she is rushed for time. She considers all her patients to be important.

Dr.Morgan is also my doctor.

I can't really say anything that has not already been said.

She is a great asset to the Chiang Mai community

Dr Morgan just made a house call and not that easy to find our place out in the rice fields of Doi Saket, but she did.

I was totally impressed with her knowledge, professionalism, and compassion and gave my Pop a quite complete checkup [considering the conditions], took blood and urine sample and communicated very clearly [with a UK accent].

Thanks to you all for the referal and recomendations. She will now be my primary physician.

She went to England for her Doctors degree that is where she learned to speak English.

On a side issue I would like to commend you for what you are doing. It can not be a easy burden to carry.

Hope fully though not easy it is a joyful one.

I am pleased t see that things are working out for you re: your request. I also commend you for looking after your dad so well under these circumstances. Wish I could move to CM and have Dr. Morgan as my doctor. Anyone know of a similar doctor in Bangkok ;-) Hope all goes well with your dad jaideeguy.

She is great!

That said, we are lucky in Chiang Mai to have MANY excellent doctors who are both compassionate and fluent in English and other languages.

I can also recommend Ajarn Piset Pisetpongsa at Sri Pat as a gastrointerologist. (due to his schedule as both a professor of medicine at CMU AND a specialist in GI at Sri Pat, I doubt he could make housecalls :)

FACT :Dr. Morgan graduated from Khonkaen university, not UK.

Hopefully all goes well with Jaideejuy's POP.

It must be quite unusual for a Doctor to make a 60kms round trip. Congratulations to the good doctor.
