How to use aircon to keep the air dry?
I think all this "only run dry mode a dee hours" stuff is written with other than the tropucs in mind. I typically run my bedroom a/c in dry mode all night long. (If necessary I tun it on cool for 1/2 to 1 hour first before going to sleep). Dry mode a/c plus a fan keep me perfectly comfortable all night in sll but yhd vrrh hittest months. The air is not too dry, even aftet 8 hours on dehumify. What I have now is a Dsikin with inverter (about 5-6 years old) but before that I had a non-inverter unit and dehumidify also worked....though it is bettef with thd inverter unit. You won't see the effects quickly, it takes some time in this humid climate. Suggest you run it on cool for 1-2 hours before slerp then switch to dehumidify for the rest of the night. -

Chiang Mai Floods Again: Businesses Battle Rising Waters
Went to Chiang Mai Expats Club breakfast at Duke ‘s, Raumchok this morn from Doi Kham around Canal Road … no problem, high and dry.Thought I would return to Doi Kham area by way of the 2rd Ring Road … road closed. Swtched to Superhighway … road flooded. Switched to 3rd Ring Road … long line past Lamphun Road intersection, detoured toward Lamphun. Irony, ended up driving the river road through some water right next to the river (3 sand bags high along most of the way and some water on the road but not enough to stop cars from going through slowly). In afternoon, checked the house water on Moo Baan streets but our house was high and dry … then we noticed the water was slowly coming into our street … yikes! Just hoping it is not worse than last week when it reached the top of the first step. The third step is level with the house floor. Tomorrow should be the highest. No rain in the forecast and October should bring the end of the rainy season … no drought for farming and drinking water here! -

SSA uses Citibank to transfer benefits to recipients overseas. Citibank remits Thai baht and not US dollars to banks in Thailand. Citibank uses a less favorable exchange rate than one would get if dollars were transferred to a Thai Bank. The blame lies with Citibank and perhaps also driven by the fact that the baht is not an extensively traded major currency. -

Having kids when old
I had my 1st child to my X wife when I was 37. My 2nd child with my Thai wife when I was 49, the 3rd came along when I was 54, we had both agreed to have kids, albeit it, I was ageing, however wife is 20 years younger than me, and I am in a financial position to help them in life. Kids provide you with a lot of joy, and a lot of headaches, for without kids, life would be pretty bland in my opinion. Then came the dog, now that's another story, I can get rid of that, I think ? My advice to you is, if your fit and active, that's a bonus, if you are financial, that's another bonus. The rest is as you age and watch your funds deplete 🙂 Oh and having kids means you are restricted in doing a lot of things, that you wouldn't be restricted in doing if you didn't have kids. Think long and hard, before you blow that load 🤑 -

I agree .. but I don’t think Thailand is set up for nor has the country invested in things like domestic infrastructure, to really make a competitive pitch to attract the high yield tourist.. that’s things like domestic transport, tourist safety and really creating authentic “experience” events. I ALSO think something that has long HELPED thailand- is also something that is going to HURT them in their pivot to higher yielding tourists .. Thailand has long, long been seen externally as — and has long lived off a reputation as a “cheap” mass tourism destination … and I don’t higher yielding folks are going to be attracted to places that carry a moniker of “cheap” IMHO -
