I return from abroad tomorrow (Wednesday 6 Am) with Thai Airways after having a leg operation abroad. I was going to get a cab home to Pattaya (Laem Chaebang), but I seem to recall the last time I took a cab from the old Bangkok airport, I was driven to some dodgy place and transferred into some old wreck of a car.

Does this still go on from the new airport??? I have read some posts on this forum that suggests this does and I should maybe get a car to pick me up. I dont really have time to arrange a pick up car now.

So I thought I may just use the AOT Limo service at the Baggage reclaim. I would appreciate any feedback on AOT service - mainly the cost as they dont seem to publish rates.

Also I read on another thread the cost of the regular taxis to Pattaya is around 1500 baht. If anyone could assure me I can feel secure using that service then I will do that instead. Normally I am not so concerned, but although I can walk I am on crutches and not able to defend myself at ALL!!!

Thanks for the feedback and advice...

If you go with a tout, or catch a taxi in the departures area, you are more likely to get dumped with an older taxi somewhere else.

If you go to the public taxi rank on the ground floor, they record the details of the taxi, so it's easy to report them. I haven't heard of the taxi swap happening from the public taxi rank.

That doesn't stop you from getting a crappy taxi from the start though.

I don't know about the AOT Limosines, but given you want to be comfortable after your surgery, it would probably be worth the extra expense.

Good advice and I agree!!!

I had a think about this over breakfast and could not really understand why I was pondering the pro and cons at all!!!

So a nice limo home it is then!!!

thanks for the feedback

I have just read a post about the touts in the baggage reclaim area - groan!!!

I really dont want any hassle and just want to book the AOT limo service. Thai air are providing a wheelchair service to to get on and off the plane so I guess I will be at the mercy of the guy pushing the wheelchair???

If anyone has picked up the AOT limo to Pattaya recently and could give me a simple 'template' of where the desk is etc... it would be much appreciated...

thanks in advance...

There is 1 AOT booth inside baggage claim before you go through customs. If you pay there they will escort you out to the arrival area AOT desk where they will then arrange the limo and take you out to the kerb to get the Taxi. I often use this service as my charges all go on expenses and it really is hassle free, however I seem to remember last time they asked for a 3200 a quick counter offer of 2000 got me a fare of 2500.

AOT provides good service. As others have mentioned, there is a counter right by baggage claim prior to customs. They will try and steer you into the most expensive car. If you are telling them that you want the cheapest car, they will adjust accordingly. Sorry, but I cannot help with the price to Pattaya as I have never used them to there. I have used a hotel car in the other direction (Pattaya - airport) and it was also about 2500 baht.

You're welcome,

It's on the website. Car 1.200,- Van 2.000,- Baht (plus generous tip for the driver). Including gas and tollway.

No need to pay up front, just pay the driver.

Good luck !

Thanks very much for your feedback. I am back home now and did use the the AOT desk in the baggage reclaim area. At 5.30 in the morning it was the only desk open anyway.

As others have reported, I paid for the car by cash and within 5 minutes had been wheeled to the car by the Thai Airway representative and was on my way home. (As an aside, the Thai Airway service for people needing assistance after an operation was awesome!).

It was relaxing ride back in a good sized, nice clean car that had brakes!!

AOT sent the following email and I chose the car that cost 2600 baht.

----------------------------------------------------------->

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your interest in our service and the prices for Airport to Pattaya as belows:

Isuzu Mu-7 ( SUV) 2600 baht

This price is included all express way and Tollway expense.

Please contact at AOT Limouse counter in the arrival hall on the second floor.

Best regards,
