Red shirts to reveal 'solid evidence' of Abhisit's UK citizenship

Red-shirt leader Jatuporn Promphan said the highlight of today's demonstration would be a revelation about Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva's alleged British nationality.

Jatuporn said this would set the stage for the upcoming censure debate in Parliament.

Police meanwhile will deploy more than 1,000 officers in three locations to be visited by red shirts, including Ratchaprasong intersection and Democracy Monument.

The red shirts will first converge at Ratchaprasong at 1pm before marching to Democracy Monument via Phetchaburi Road in the Pratunam area. They will also pay a visit to the old Supreme Court building, where police will also be deployed.

Jatuporn claims he has solid evidence that Abhisit, who was born in Newcastle, England, holds British citizenship because he has not renounced it.

Thus Abhisit would be subject to being tried by the International Criminal Court for alleged crimes against humanity as a result of the deadly red-shirt crackdown in April and May last year. Thailand has not ratified membership of the ICC, while the United Kingdom has.

Police have urged red-shirt leaders to ensure there will be no anti-monarchy messages or graffiti painted at the protest sites.

Police also called on the leaders to keep their eyes open for possible provocateurs.

Jatuporn said the red shirts would not gather at Ratchaprasong for much more than an hour before moving to the Supreme Court to read a letter of consolation to their jailed leaders. They will then end the protest shortly after midnight at Democracy Monument.

On Monday, the Criminal Court will consider the bail applications by seven red-shirt leaders.

According to Jatuporn, some sources say only two detained leaders may be granted bail, as they are considered more moderate than the others. If that is the case, said Jatuporn, he will volunteer to be put in jail too, as denial of bail would not be fair.

If there is no progress on the matter, red shirts will demonstrate in front of the court again on March 12.

In a related development, police denied that they were prepared to use Chinese-made tear gas to disperse the yellow-shirt People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), which has been warned to end its occupation of streets around Government House.

The Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) said anti-riot police would be equipped only with US-made tear gas and the canisters, if used at all, would be thrown manually at yellow-shirt protesters and not fired.

The PAD regards Chinese-made tear gas as a potentially deadly weapon.

Hang on a minute, if Abbhisit still holds UK Citizenship (or duel citizenship). Does that mean there's a Brit in charge of running Thailand?? Surely that can't be correct. Foreigners (which Brits are, like all the white skinned devils here) can't own land, but can run the country?? I thought you had to be a full on 100% Thai national with a degree just to be able to get registered as a politician in a political party to run in local elections.

Thais cannot have two citizenships. If they accept the passport from another country, they must forfeit their Thai citizenship. But Abhisit is clearly not British. He has a reputation for probity, for Heaven's sake. He'd be torn apart by the wild animals on High Street.

Thaksin, on the other hand, is very much a Cambodian Montenegrin Nicaraguan. Certainly not Thai.

But then again, Thailand is very rarely Thai.

We have the same problem in the USA. Can't find out where our president is from. I guess the big differences is that we were able to vote for him (or not). As for Chinese ancestry, just look at a map, and look at the people. It's not hard to see where that China and India come into the picture. We need to have an election. .
